What is exterior polyurethane cladding?
Exterior polyurethane cladding is the common name of the decorative profile family applied to the exterior surface of the building. This family is not a surface cladding, but a set of elements: jambs around windows and doors, sills under windows, bands between floors, corbels under eaves, columns and arches at the entrance, crowns or keystones above windows. When these elements come together, the proportion, shadow, and character of the facade are established.
The material is rigid closed-cell polyurethane. The closed-cell structure stops water from advancing into the body: water absorption is below 1%, density is 150-220 kg/m³ (production target ~160 kg/m³), fire class is B2 (flame retardant), service temperature is -100 °C / +80 °C. The elements are not load-bearing and do not serve as insulation; their task is to establish the appearance of the facade.
Material comparison in exterior decoration
The same facade appearance can be achieved with stone, precast concrete, plaster, EPS (styrofoam) or polyurethane. The difference is not in the appearance, but on the facade over time and at the construction site. Precast concrete and stone are massive; they require cranes, anchors, and static calculations, and add to the building load. Plaster deteriorates against moisture outdoors; it is essentially an interior material. EPS is lightweight but not rigid on its own; it requires a layer of mesh and plaster on it; when this layer cracks, water advances inside.
Polyurethane is rigid on its own and does not require an additional coating layer; because it does not absorb water and is light, it is applied without a crane in existing building renovations. On the other hand, the texture and aging style of real stone is unique — in projects with suitable budgets and statics, stone is still a strong choice.

How is the facade project set up?
A healthy exterior facade decoration setup progresses in three steps. The first is measurement and detection: facade photography, window-door measurements and floor heights are extracted. Since high-precision 3D scanning can be done, the existing facade can be exactly modeled and the final appearance can be seen even at the project stage. The second is style and scale: a single profile family is selected; sections are proportioned to the window width and facade height. The third is quantity survey: the line of each element is measured separately, an allowance for waste is added (10% plain, 15% patterned).
The application sequence also determines the result: surface preparation, dry rehearsal, installation with PU-based mounting adhesive, joint filling, smoothing with 180-220 grit and UV-resistant facade paint. Products come primed with white 1K acrylic primer and ship on an ex-works basis.

Does exterior polyurethane cladding provide thermal insulation?
No. These products are decorative facade elements; they are not insulation products and are not included in insulation calculations. If there is sheathing on the facade, the elements are applied over the sheathing in a compatible manner.
Can it be applied to the facade of an existing building later?
Yes. Because they are lightweight, they do not require a crane and are mounted directly when the surface is solid, clean, and dust-free. If there is blistering, rubbing, or moisture on the facade, this problem must be resolved first.
Do exterior decoration products add load to the building?
Polyurethane exterior decoration elements are lightweight; compared to precast concrete, the load they put on the building is very low. For this reason, it is preferred in existing building renovations. The elements are not load-bearing, they are decorative cladding.
How long does the exterior decoration application take?
The duration depends on the facade area and the number of elements. Because polyurethane profiles are lightweight, no crane is required; they are mounted with adhesive and mechanical support, which significantly shortens construction time compared to precast concrete.
Do facade decoration products have to be painted?
Yes. The products come primed with white 1K acrylic primer; UV-resistant facade paint must be applied outdoors. The paint determines both the color and the lifespan of the surface against UV rays.
Do polyurethane exterior facade elements deteriorate in rain, snow and frost?
They do not deteriorate. Because the closed-cell structure absorbs less than 1% water, the material does not rot, swell, or mold. Since the service temperature range is -100 °C / +80 °C, cracking is not observed in the freeze-thaw cycle.
Are they resistant to hail and strong winds?
Yes. Thanks to the 150-220 kg/m³ (production target ~160 kg/m³) density, it is not punctured and cratered like styrofoam in severe hail. For wind resistance, it is mandatory to use adhesive and screws together during assembly, and to screw them mutually from the joints.
Can the products be used unpainted?
They should not be used unpainted. The white acrylic primer from the factory is a technical base, not a topcoat; the unpainted surface will yellow and fade over time due to UV effects.
Which paint and primer should be used?
Highly elastic, UV-resistant exterior facade paints are suitable. For warranty purposes, the primer should be the system primer of the topcoat paint brand.
Does it add extra load to the building, is a load-bearing system required?
The elements are lightweight, they do not add additional static load to the facade. Polyurethane columns are decorative and do not carry loads; if a load is to be placed on them, an iron carcass passed through the inside takes over the bearing, concrete is not poured inside.
How does it behave in case of fire?
Its fire class is defined as B2 (hardly flammable). Thanks to the phosphorus-based flame retardants in the raw material, it extinguishes itself when the flame source is removed.
What tools are required for cutting and assembly?
Because the density is high, a utility knife does not cut it. A fine-toothed hand saw or a miter saw is used, corner joints are made with a 45° miter; joints are puttied and smoothed with 180-220 grit sandpaper.
Are sizes and models not in the catalog produced, how is the price determined?
Yes. An existing motif can be digitized with 3D scanning and produced via CNC or mold; 3D design and on-site discovery are subject to a fee. Area measurement (linear meter or m²), photographs and location are required for an offer. The price is only the cost of the product, products are ex-works.
