- Polyurethane: Thanks to its closed-cell structure, it does not absorb water, does not rot, and is unaffected by freeze-thaw cycles. It is safely used on facades, in bathrooms and kitchens.
- Plaster: Absorbs moisture; in damp environments it swells, crumbles and encourages mould. It cannot be used unprotected on facades and is not recommended in wet rooms such as bathrooms.

Installation Time and Ease
- Polyurethane: Produced at the factory in ready sizes and profiles. On site, only mitre cutting + polyurethane adhesive is needed; it is ready for paint the same day. Dependence on craftsmanship is low.
- Plaster: Requires on-site running or fixing of cast pieces; drying times force waiting. It demands mould craftsmanship, and application can stretch over days.
If speed matters in the project schedule, polyurethane provides a clear advantage.
Detail Sharpness and Appearance
- Polyurethane: Because it is moulded, ornament depth, sharp lines and texture (including wood and stone looks) are preserved exactly. Every piece is of equal quality.
- Plaster: A good craftsman can achieve a clean result; however, piece-to-piece variation, chipped corners and cracking over time can occur.
After painting, both materials look similar; the difference emerges in the long term: polyurethane does not crack or crumble.

Material price alone is misleading; total cost must be considered:
- Plaster: May look cheaper per square metre as a material; however labour time, drying waits, waste and repair costs raise the total.
