Defining the architectural character and aesthetic appeal of buildings, Window and Door Surrounds are reimagined with Polure’s high-density polyurethane technology. Eliminating the limitations of traditional building materials, Polure surrounds offer solutions that exceed the expectations of architects and homeowners alike. Thanks to their high-density (150-200 kg/m³) structure, they provide a hardness comparable to wood while overcoming the heavy labor of marble and the fragility of plaster. These products bring a prestigious look to building facades while offering functional protection.
Architectural Diversity and Design Freedom
The Polure Window and Door Surround collection features a wide range of designs to complement any architectural style. From the grand windows of classic villas to the clean lines of modern residences, it is easy to add a bespoke touch to every project. For instance, compact models like P1454 and P1461 highlight elegant details, while wider profiles such as P1460, P1460M10, and P1460M40 enhance the visual impact on monumental facades and large-scale commercial buildings. Specialty designs like P1456D create deep, dynamic window frames that elevate the overall aesthetics of the structure. Thanks to Polure's manufacturing precision, the pattern and dimensions of each trim piece are crafted with millimeter accuracy to maintain the integrity of your design.
Durability and Superior Material Properties
Polure surrounds possess unique properties that easily withstand harsh outdoor conditions. With a closed-cell structure, their water absorption rate is below 1%, offering complete resistance to moisture and water. This prevents cracking and warping caused by freeze-thaw cycles. They maintain their shape under extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to +80°C. Due to their high dimensional stability, they do not shrink, expand, or warp over time. Our products come factory-primed and retain their original appearance for years when finished with UV-resistant exterior paints. Additionally, their flame-retardant, self-extinguishing nature contributes to passive fire safety.
Active Role in Thermal and Acoustic Insulation
Window and door trims are not merely decorative elements; they also contribute significantly to thermal and acoustic insulation. Window and door perimeters are the primary areas where thermal bridging occurs in buildings. Polure surrounds create an additional insulation barrier in these critical zones, improving energy efficiency and indoor comfort. By reducing external noise transmission, they help create quieter, more peaceful living spaces. Their lightweight nature ensures quick and easy installation, saving on labor costs.
- Modular Structure: Different trim profiles and accessories can be combined to create customized window and door frames.
- Easy Repair: In case of impact or damage, they can be easily filled, sanded, and repainted for long-lasting use.
- Eco-Friendly: With their long lifespan and maintenance-free nature, they contribute to sustainable building projects.
Usage Areas
Polure window and door surrounds offer a versatile range of applications for both interior and exterior architectural projects. Externally, they are essential for highlighting window and door frames with an aesthetic touch. They are highly preferred in villas, boutique hotels, and historical restoration projects to establish a classic or modern identity. By preventing rainwater from seeping into window frames, they provide extra protection to the building. They are also ideal for reinforcing vertical lines at building corners or creating integrated facade designs with floor cornices and brackets. Indoors, they add depth and elegance when used as door casings, niche borders, main frames for wall paneling (wainscoting) projects, or ceiling borders. In lobbies, restaurants, or hotel rooms, profiles like P1457 or P1459 offer a sophisticated touch to frame mirrors or decorative panels. Furthermore, they stand out with their durability and aesthetics in specialized applications such as elevator door surrounds.
Installation
Installing Polure surrounds yields easy and permanent results when the correct steps are followed. Before application, ensure the surface is completely clean, dry, and free of dust. The trims are miter-cut at a 45-degree angle according to project dimensions. For bonding, high-strength polyurethane-based adhesives like Polure Polfix must be used; silicone-based adhesives are strictly not recommended. Apply the adhesive evenly into the channels on the back of the product and press it firmly onto the surface. For exterior applications, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory to ensure the material bonds fully and remains secure. All joints and screw holes are filled with exterior-grade filler. Once dry, the filler is carefully sanded with 180-220 grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth surface. Finally, after priming, the process is completed with two coats of paint: UV-resistant for exteriors, and water-based or synthetic for interiors.
Care Information
Polure surrounds require minimal maintenance while preserving their aesthetic and functional performance for many years. Thanks to their high-density, closed-cell structure, they do not suffer from rotting, molding, or pest infestations. Cleaning is extremely simple; a damp cloth and a mild detergent are sufficient. Avoid abrasive chemicals. For exterior applications, repainting the trims in accordance with the building's general paint maintenance cycle (averaging every 5-10 years) ensures they retain their vibrant, day-one appearance. In case of any impact or minor damage, the affected area can be easily repaired by filling it with acrylic putty, sanding, and spot-painting. This effortless maintenance and repair capability extends the product's lifespan, protecting the value of your investment.
