What Is a Ceiling Rose?

A ceiling rose (also called a ceiling medallion) is a circular decorative element applied to the centre of the ceiling, usually surrounding the chandelier. It gives the ceiling a classical focal point, visually crowns the chandelier and adds unity to the space. The polyurethane ceiling rose is the modern solution that has replaced plaster, thanks to its light weight, sharp ornament details and easy installation.

1. Focal point: Creates a visual centre in the middle of the ceiling; the eye is drawn to the rose together with the chandelier. 2. Chandelier complement: Frames the chandelier connection point, hiding the cable outlet and ceiling hook. 3. Unity: Used together with cornices, it gives the ceiling a complete classical arrangement. 4. Proportion: In large and high-ceilinged spaces it reduces the feeling of emptiness and scales the ceiling. It is widely used in living rooms, dining rooms, hotel lobbies and wedding halls.

Surface preparation: The ceiling is cleaned of dust and loose paint. 3. Bonding: Polyurethane mounting adhesive is applied to the back of the rose and pressed onto the ceiling; temporary support is used for large diameters. 4. Joint and paint: The edge joint is filled and painted with ceiling paint. 5. Chandelier installation: The chandelier is hung after the adhesive has cured. Segmented roses can be joined on the floor first and then lifted to the ceiling.
