Shaping the exterior and interior aesthetics of buildings and adding elegance to architectural details, Polure's high-density polyurethane surrounds elevate design to a new dimension. Unlike traditional building materials (stone, marble, plaster) with their heavy, costly, and labor-intensive processes, our surrounds offer practical and long-lasting solutions for a wide range of projects, from contemporary designs to historically sensitive restorations. This category encompasses a rich product range that imparts a distinctive character to buildings, providing depth and continuity to facades. Beyond their visual appeal, they also function as an effective insulation layer, minimizing heat loss around windows.
High-Performance Material and Production Technology
Polure Surrounds are manufactured from rigid polyurethane (PU) raw material with a density ranging from 180-300 kg/m³. This density provides superior impact resistance while being 90% lighter than marble, significantly reducing the load on buildings. For instance, even elaborate profiles like P1456, measuring 137x2400x2000 mm, can be easily transported and installed by two people. Our molds, crafted with CNC machining technology, guarantee millimeter precision for every product, from delicate designs like P1454 (40x2400x160 mm) to magnificent exterior elements such as P1460 (542x2400x480 mm). The material's closed-cell structure completely prevents water absorption, ensuring it remains unaffected by rain, snow, or humidity, and retains its form for decades without cracking or swelling.
Architectural Flexibility and Design Versatility
Our surrounds collection, with its ‘Surround’ and ‘Surround Ornament’ sub-groups, caters to every architectural requirement. Our stepped profiles (P1458, P1459), indispensable for classical architecture, reflect the grandeur of neoclassical structures, while our minimalist and straight-lined models add an elegant touch to modern residential projects. The P1461 model, measuring 150x2400x365 mm, offers versatile use both as ceiling finishes in interiors and as a string course on exterior facades. Especially custom-designed surround models like P1460M40 are ideal solutions for architects aiming to give a building a monumental character. All our products are shipped from the factory primed, providing the advantage of easy painting with any water-based or acrylic paint after installation.
Economic Efficiency and Long-Term Benefits
Compared to traditional reinforced concrete or precast surround applications, Polure's solutions offer significant time savings of up to 70% during installation. Their lightweight nature, requiring no heavy machinery or special lifting equipment, substantially reduces labor costs. Thanks to a low thermal conductivity coefficient, they create an effective insulation barrier in the gaps between window frames and walls. Large-format models like P1457 (195x2400x260 mm) play a strategic role in concealing potential facade imperfections and enhancing the visual appeal of windows. Their UV-resistant structure withstands the damaging effects of the sun and requires minimal maintenance throughout the building's lifespan.
Usage Areas
Surrounds offer versatile application areas that add value to architectural projects. On exterior facades, they accentuate window and door frames, adding depth to the structure, create an aesthetic distinction between floors as a string course, and reinforce the building's lines with quoin details. They are indispensable for emphasizing a building's identity and character, particularly in entrance portals of luxury villa projects, on the facades of boutique hotels, and in prestigious commercial buildings. In interiors, they add a magnificent frame to wall paneling applications in wide door passages, around niches, and in high-ceilinged living rooms. Thinner profiles like P1454 and P1458 can offer unusual and stylish solutions as mirror or picture frames in interior decoration. Furthermore, thanks to their superior resistance to moisture, they can be safely chosen over wooden surrounds in wet areas such as bathrooms or pool surrounds.
Installation
For correct and permanent installation of surrounds, first ensure the application surface is completely dry and free of dust, dirt, and moisture. In the initial step, meticulously measure window or door openings, and make perfect 45-degree miter cuts for corner joints using a miter saw. Apply a special high-adhesion polyurethane adhesive, branded Polifix, in strips to the back surface of each cut surround piece. After carefully positioning the pieces on the wall, it is recommended to secure them using thin nails or appropriate supports to prevent slipping during the adhesive's drying time. Gaps at joints and between the wall and the surround should be filled with acrylic caulk or special filler materials, then sanded to achieve a smooth surface. For exterior applications, it is crucial to seal the upper sections with additional insulation materials to prevent water from seeping behind the surround.
Care Information
Polure Surround products are designed for minimal maintenance, ensuring they retain their original appearance for many years. For surface cleaning, a damp, soft cloth with a non-abrasive, mild cleaner is sufficient. Thanks to the non-porous structure of polyurethane, it does not harbor dirt or dust and is resistant to bacterial growth. Under normal use conditions, it offers a service life of over 20 to 30 years. Small scratches or superficial damage that may occur on exterior facades can be easily filled with acrylic caulk and repaired by localized painting. When the building's general exterior paint is renewed (typically every 5-10 years), repainting the surrounds is also recommended to maintain aesthetic integrity. These simple maintenance routines extend the aesthetic and functional life of the products.
