The P5050DP model is an architectural element designed to crown wall and column designs, seamlessly blending classical architectural details with modern manufacturing technology. Positioned at the very top of pilaster columns—commonly used to create depth on vertical surfaces—it delivers a balanced and powerful finish to facade designs.
Featuring dimensions of 150 mm in width, 694 mm in length, and 315 mm in height, this product boasts a prominent and well-proportioned profile. Thanks to its rigid polyurethane (PU) formulation with a density of 150-220 kg/m³, it offers the strength and durability of wood while remaining exceptionally lightweight. Its closed-cell structure keeps water absorption below one percent, reducing the risk of issues like rotting, swelling, or pest infestation. It also maintains its dimensional stability in temperatures ranging from -20 °C / +70 °C.
Visually, the product stands out with its clean, layered geometric lines. Eschewing heavy traditional carvings, its sleek stepped top plate, soft concave transition (cavetto), and smooth flat surface make it a perfect fit for both neoclassical and modern-classic projects. This minimalist yet distinctive form beautifully captures the play of light and shadow, lending a refined architectural identity to any space.
This decorative polyurethane capital is highly versatile. Indoors, it is ideal for faux column installations in hotel lobbies, restaurants, prestigious offices, and spacious living room walls. Outdoors, it serves as a durable architectural detail framing villa entrance doors, topping pilasters alongside windows, or accentuating floor-to-floor transitions.
Unlike traditional plaster, which is prone to cracking and breaking, this product stands out for its durability and ease of installation. Simply apply Polure Polfix adhesive to the cleaned surface, position the capital, and secure it mechanically with screws until dry. Once joints and screw holes are puttied and sanded, it is ready for painting.
The product is delivered with a protective factory primer that enhances surface smoothness. However, since paint manufacturers do not guarantee performance without their own priming systems, applying an additional primer before the topcoat is optional and left to the customer's discretion. For outdoor applications, using UV-resistant paints will maximize the product's lifespan.
- The P5050DP pilaster capital offers versatile application possibilities for both interior zoning and exterior facade designs
- Indoors, it is ideal for creating vertical lines on spacious living room walls, crowning columns in hotel lobbies, enriching fireplace surrounds, or adding a load-bearing support look to library units
- On exteriors, it is preferred to top pilasters flanking villa entrance doors, enhance window jamb designs, and create a decorative corbel or keystone effect at floor transitions
- Thanks to its wide surface structure, it can be used to design columns that evoke a sense of depth in grand corridors or commercial spaces like restaurants
- Ensure the installation surface is dry, clean, and smooth
- Apply Polure Polfix adhesive to the back of the product and its joint connections
- Position the capital onto the wall or column shaft, securing it mechanically with screws to prevent slipping until the adhesive cures
- Fill screw holes and joints with an elastic exterior-grade putty, then sand smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- An additional primer can optionally be applied over the factory-applied primer, followed by two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- For outdoor applications, using UV-resistant paint is mandatory to protect against sun exposure
- Cleaning the product is highly practical
- Thanks to its closed-cell structure, the capital performs well in damp conditions, allowing it to be easily wiped down with a damp or soapy cloth
- Avoid using abrasive chemicals, acid-based solvents, or harsh scrubbing sponges during cleaning
- To ensure the longevity of outdoor installations, it is recommended to inspect the painted surface once a year and perform local paint touch-ups if necessary
- Direct washing with high-pressure water should be avoided
Can it withstand outdoor weather conditions?
Yes, thanks to its rigid PU formulation, it retains its shape in temperatures ranging from -20 °C / +70 °C. With low water absorption (below 1%), it remains unaffected by rain, snow, and humidity. However, to protect it from the yellowing effects of UV rays outdoors, it must be painted with a suitable UV-resistant exterior paint.
Which adhesive should be used for installation?
To ensure high strength and flexibility during installation, only Polure Polfix adhesive should be used. Silicones or other low-flexibility adhesives are not recommended, as they can cause joints to open over time. In addition to gluing, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory.
Can the product be used directly without painting?
The product is shipped with a protective white factory primer. However, this primer is not a topcoat; it is only meant to prepare the surface for painting. To protect the polyurethane from outdoor elements and UV rays, it must be painted with at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint after installation.
What are its advantages over plaster column capitals?
Plaster materials are highly fragile, prone to breaking, and can crumble over time by absorbing moisture. In contrast, this product is lightweight for easy installation, highly impact-resistant, and has a reduced risk of cracking or crumbling. Additionally, its detail definition is far sharper than plaster.
Is it mandatory to apply an additional primer?
Our product is delivered with a factory-applied primer coat, which enhances surface quality. However, paint manufacturers do not guarantee paint durability unless their own priming systems are used. Therefore, applying an additional primer is entirely optional and at the user's discretion; Polure does not accept liability for paint performance.
