The P5020M pilaster column capital is a decorative architectural element designed to add depth to wall surfaces in both interior and exterior designs. By bringing movement to flat wall surfaces, this piece allows you to achieve a classic column look, bringing the exquisite details of neo-classical architecture into modern living spaces. Offering both an aesthetic finish and structural substance, this special element creates a distinctive visual impact in any project where it is applied.
From a technical standpoint, the product is manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (rigid PU) with a density of 150-200 kg/m³. This density provides the product with high mechanical strength comparable to wood, while offering a lightweight structure that ensures ease of transport and installation. Designed with a depth of 74 mm, a width of 259 mm, and a height of 310 mm, the model stands out with its balanced proportions. As seen in the image, the stepped, layered profile transitions at the top merge with the clean, simple surface in the middle, ending with a fine finishing detail at the bottom. This balanced design successfully replicates the column capitals and corbel transitions of classical architecture.
The closed-cell structure of the product keeps its water absorption rate below 1%. Consequently, it does not rot, swell, or deteriorate when exposed to moisture, humidity, or direct water contact. It exhibits an extremely stable performance against temperature fluctuations between -20°C and +80°C, experiencing no dimensional deformations such as expansion, shrinkage, or cracking. Unlike fragile plaster alternatives, it is highly impact-resistant, ensuring zero waste during transport and application.
The product comes ready for use with a factory-applied white primer coat. This factory primer prepares the surface for paint application. However, since paint manufacturers do not guarantee paint jobs done without their own primer products, applying an additional primer coat is optional and at the customer's discretion. Polure does not assume responsibility for the performance of the paints used. To protect the material against UV rays and prevent yellowing outdoors, it is mandatory to use UV-resistant paints in exterior applications.
The P5020M is an excellent alternative for crowning column shafts, particularly in prestigious residential entrances, hotel lobbies, fireplace surrounds, and interior wall paneling. During installation, Polure Polfix adhesive should be applied to the cleaned surface, and mechanical fastening with screws must be performed during the drying period. Subsequently, the screw holes are filled with putty, sanded, and made ready for the final topcoat of paint.
- The P5020M pilaster column capital has a wide range of applications in both interior and exterior projects
- On exteriors, it is used as a top finishing element in vertical column designs around entrance doors and windows, especially in private villa entrances
- It is also frequently preferred to provide a harmonious transition with floor moldings on building facades
- Indoors, it aesthetically terminates vertical lines in decorative framing and paneling systems created on living room walls
- It enhances structural depth in corridor transition arches, niche surrounds, and wall designs above fireplaces
- It is ideal for emphasizing vertical lines on walls behind hotel receptions, classical-style partition walls in restaurants, and luxury office designs
- Thanks to its complete resistance to water and moisture, it can be safely used in high-humidity areas such as bathrooms, Turkish baths, and spas
- Depending on the scale of the application area, it can be used alone or modularly combined with holistic wall panels
- For the installation process, the application surface must first be clean, dry, and free of dust
- Polure Polfix adhesive is applied in strips to the back surface of the P5020M element
- After placing the product on the wall, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory to prevent slipping until the adhesive is completely dry
- Once the adhesive has cured, screw heads and any joints are filled with acrylic exterior putty
- Following the drying of the putty, the surface is smoothed using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- After applying an optional primer coat according to the paint manufacturer's recommendation, the process is completed by applying two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- Thanks to its rigid structure, its maintenance requirement is extremely low
- Dust accumulated indoors can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth
- Abrasive chemicals and stiff brushes should not be used for surface cleaning
- In exterior applications, a surface inspection once a year and local paint touch-ups are recommended to preserve the lifespan of the paint
- Once completely dry and its protective paint is completed, the product can be cleaned outdoors by washing with a low-pressure garden hose
- As long as it is kept away from chemical solvents, it will maintain its shape and texture for a lifetime
