Window Surround Kit: What Components Are Included?
A window surround is not composed of a single profile, but rather an integrated assembly. Commonly referred to as a window casing or trim kit, this complete set typically includes two side jambs, a top header (lintel), a sill, and an optional keystone.
As a manufacturer, we produce these sets from matching mold families, ensuring the stepped profiles of the side jambs and top header align seamlessly at the corners. Mixing components from different suppliers often leads to misaligned corner joints and uneven transitions.
The cross-sectional range is derived from live production data: 46 × 62 mm - 542 × 846 mm. Products are manufactured within a density range of 150-220 kg/m³ (production target ~160 kg/m³), maintaining a water absorption rate of below 1%.
Defining exterior and interior architectural aesthetics, window surrounds elevated by Polure’s high-density polyurethane material offer both practical and durable solutions. Unlike heavy, costly, and labor-intensive traditional materials such as stone, marble, or plaster, polyurethane trims suit applications ranging from contemporary builds to historical restorations. This category encompasses a comprehensive range of profiles that add depth, character, and visual continuity to facades while serving as an effective insulation layer to minimize thermal bridging around openings.
High-Performance Material and Manufacturing Technology
Polure window surrounds are engineered from rigid polyurethane (PU) raw material with a density range of 180–300 kg/m³. This high density delivers superior impact resistance while remaining up to 90% lighter than marble, eliminating structural loads on building facades. For instance, even substantial profiles like P1456 (137x2400x2000 mm) can be comfortably carried and positioned by two installers. CNC-machined molds guarantee precision down to the millimeter across all models—from delicate trims like P1454 (40x2400x160 mm) to grand architectural features like P1460 (542x2400x480 mm). The closed-cell structure prevents water absorption, protecting profiles against rain, snow, and humidity without swelling or cracking over decades.
Architectural Versatility and Design Variety
Our collection caters to diverse architectural requirements with dedicated categories for base trims and decorative accents. Stepped profiles such as P1458 and P1459 recreate classic and neoclassical details, while sleek, clean-lined models complement modern residential developments. Multipurpose profiles like P1461 (150x2400x365 mm) function seamlessly as interior ceiling trims or exterior string courses. Custom designs such as P1460M40 offer architects bold solutions for monumental facades. All products are delivered factory-primed, allowing effortless painting with water-based or acrylic paints after installation.
Cost Efficiency and Long-Term Value
Compared to traditional precast concrete or stone surrounds, Polure solutions reduce installation time by up to 70%. Their lightweight construction eliminates the need for heavy machinery or specialized hoisting equipment, significantly lowering labor expenses. Thanks to low thermal conductivity, these surrounds form an insulating barrier around window frames. Wide-format profiles like P1457 (195x2400x260 mm) effectively cover structural irregularities while highlighting window reveals. Engineered for UV resistance, they withstand solar exposure with minimal maintenance required over the life of the building.
Usage Areas
Polyurethane surrounds offer versatile application options across architectural projects. Externally, they frame window and door openings to create dimensional relief, serve as horizontal belt courses between floors, and reinforce corner lines with quoins. They are widely specified for entrance portals in villa projects, boutique hotel facades, and commercial properties. Internally, these trims surround wide doorways, border wall niches, and complement wall paneling in high-ceiling spaces. Slender profiles such as P1454 and P1458 also serve as custom mirror or artwork frames. Furthermore, exceptional moisture resistance makes them a reliable alternative to traditional timber trims in wet areas like bathrooms and indoor pool enclosures.
Installation
For a durable installation, ensure the application surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease. Begin by accurately measuring window and door openings, making precise 45-degree miter cuts for corner joints using a miter saw. Apply beads of high-tack Polifix polyurethane adhesive along the rear side of each trim profile. Press the profile firmly against the substrate and temporarily anchor it with finishing nails or mechanical supports while the adhesive cures. Fill joint seams and gap edges between the profile and wall with acrylic sealant or joint filler, then sand smooth once dry. On exterior installations, seal top horizontal edges with appropriate flashing sealant to prevent water infiltration behind the profiles.
Care Information
Polure window surrounds require minimal maintenance while preserving their appearance over decades. Surface cleaning can be performed using a damp soft cloth with a mild, non-abrasive detergent. The non-porous polyurethane surface resists dirt accumulation and microbial growth, offering a service life exceeding 20 to 30 years under normal conditions. Minor surface scratches or damage on exterior profiles can easily be repaired using acrylic filler and spot-painted. Repainting surrounds during routine exterior repainting cycles (typically every 5–10 years) preserves aesthetic continuity across the facade.
