High-Density Construction and Technical Performance
Long service life and dimensional stability are critical factors in architectural elements. Thanks to their closed-cell structure with a density of 150-220 kg/m³ (production target ~160 kg/m³), our products offer a wood-like level of hardness while remaining remarkably lightweight. The product's own weight and the loads created by its fixings must be assessed together with the application surface and supporting system. With a temperature resistance of -100 °C / +80 °C, our materials retain their shape even under demanding climatic conditions and do not shrink, expand, or warp. With a negligible water absorption rate below 1%, they do not swell, rot, or deteriorate in humid environments. The material's self-extinguishing property also contributes to fire safety by causing it to go out once the flame source is removed.

Choosing a product in the right scale for the ceiling height and width of an architectural project is essential. Within our range, the KKAP11 model (217x2000x2580 mm) stands out with its balanced proportions and classical lines, while KKAP29 (257x2080x2630 mm) is an ideal alternative for those seeking a wider, more pronounced profile. For high-ceilinged and monumental entrance designs, KKAP30 (220x2160x2960 mm) enhances the prestige of a project with its imposing dimensions. Surface Preparation, Priming, and Painting Guidelines
Our products are shipped from the factory with a special primer coating. This factory primer prepares the surface for paint and makes it easier to apply water-based or synthetic paints. However, an important point should be considered regarding priming: paint manufacturers do not provide a warranty for surfaces painted directly without their own specified primer. For this reason, applying an additional primer is entirely optional and remains the customer's choice. Polure does not guarantee the performance of the paints used and accepts no responsibility in this regard. For exterior applications, using a UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory to prevent the unpainted material from yellowing.
Usage Areas
Door surrounds are functional decorative elements with a wide range of applications. Indoors, they are used as decorative door frames that connect the wall surface with the door casing in living rooms, entrance halls, and corridors. Thanks to their excellent resistance to water and moisture, they provide an alternative to wooden door casings in bathrooms, kitchens, and spa areas. They are also preferred for creating prestigious transition areas in hotel lobbies, restaurants, and administrative buildings. On exterior facades, they can be installed as exterior door surrounds around the main entrances of villas, business centres, and historic buildings, giving them a more monumental appearance.
Installation
For a successful installation, the application surface must be dry, clean, and smooth. First, take measurements suitable for the door opening and cut the profiles at a 45-degree angle using a mitre-cutting machine. During bonding, apply a generous amount of polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive to the channels on the back of the material; silicone adhesive must never be used. While the adhesive cures, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory to prevent the profiles from shifting. Fill the joints and screw heads with exterior-grade filler for outdoor applications, then smooth them with 180-220 grit sandpaper once dry. Installation is completed with optional primer application followed by two coats of finish paint.
Care Information
These closed-cell profiles retain their shape for many years with minimal maintenance. Cleaning with a soft, damp cloth is sufficient; abrasive detergents and hard cleaning tools should not be used. Their highly water-resistant structure means that routine cleaning will not damage them. If the colour needs to be changed over time or minor surface damage occurs, the surface can be lightly sanded and repainted. For exterior applications, the filler in the joints should be inspected periodically and renewed when necessary.
