Polyurethane Column Projects and Types
A polyurethane column is the classical column form moulded in rigid polyurethane: shaft, capital and base. It is light and surface-mounted onto the existing structure. This page brings together the types (plain, fluted, twisted; full round and half), the size range and photographs from completed projects.

Types: plain, fluted, twisted and pilaster
| Type | Distinguishing feature | Where it is preferred |
|---|---|---|
| Plain column | Smooth shaft, no shadow lines | Modern facades, plain interiors, pier cladding |
| Fluted column | Vertical channels make it read taller | Classic facades, entrance features, living rooms |
| Twisted column | Helical shaft, 260 cm length | Baroque/neoclassical accent, hotel and hall entrances |
| Full round | Free-standing, seen from all sides | Under balconies, terraces, open halls |
| Half column | Two half shells against a wall | Cladding existing piers, wall accents |
| Pilaster | Flat section, engaged look | Narrow facades, interior wall articulation |
| Capital (Doric/Ionic/Corinthian) | Top order: plain, volute, acanthus | The part that sets the style |
| Base | Separates shaft from floor, closes the junction | Completes every column |

Frequently Asked Questions
How many types of polyurethane column are there?
Three: plain, fluted and twisted, each as a full round or half (cladding) column; pilasters are used on narrow faces.
Which sizes are available?
Shaft diameters , standard length 240 cm and 260 cm in the twisted range. Half columns run from 100×200 mm to 300×600 mm.
What is the difference between capital orders?
Doric is plain and geometric, Ionic carries volutes and Corinthian has acanthus leaves and is the most ornate. The capital defines the style of the column.
Do the columns carry load?
No, they are decorative. Where a load exists an internal steel frame carries it, and concrete is never poured inside the column.
Which diameter is needed to clad an existing pier?
Measure the widest point of the pier; the inner diameter of the column must exceed it, otherwise the half shells will not close at the joints.
What is done in rooms taller than 240 cm?
A shaft joint is planned and concealed with a base, collar or band, and the pieces are cross-screwed.
Can they be used outdoors?
Yes. The material absorbs less than 1% water and is dimensionally stable between -100 °C / +80 °C; outdoors it is sealed with an elastic UV-resistant paint.
How is the price calculated?
Shaft, capital and base are separate items, one of each per visible column. Prices cover the product only and goods are ex-works.
