The P553050 relief-patterned half column shaft is a decorative cladding element designed to enclose existing structural columns or create a architectural feature on plain wall surfaces. Featuring relief details inspired by classic and baroque architecture, this high-density molded element adds refined character to both interior and exterior spaces.
Measuring 193 mm in depth, 360 mm in width, and 1030 mm in height, the product is manufactured from rigid polyurethane raw material with a density of 150-220 kg/m³. Due to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate remains below 1%, providing high resistance against moisture, mold, and rot. Maintaining its dimensional stability, it ensures long-term performance with a reduced risk of cracking or expansion.
The visual composition features symmetrical acanthus leaves, scrollwork motifs, and a central oval medallion detail. The pronounced surface relief creates a tactile three-dimensional depth enhanced by light and shadow. These molded details offer the intricate appearance of traditional stone and wood carving in a lightweight, practical form.
Suitable for diverse architectural applications, this half column panel serves as a focal point in residential living rooms, entryways, hallways, and accent walls behind TV units. In commercial projects, it is frequently specified for hotel lobbies, reception areas, restaurants, and retail spaces. Thanks to its weather-resistant structure, it can also be applied as exterior cladding on villa facades and entrances when finished with UV-resistant exterior coatings.
Considerably lighter than plaster or stone alternatives, this modular cladding adds no significant structural load and reduces the risk of breakage. Delivered with a factory-applied primer, the surface can be easily painted with water-based or synthetic paints following installation. It allows for a clean and efficient installation process using polyurethane (PU) adhesive combined with supplementary mechanical fastenings.
- The P553050 relief-patterned half column shaft is suitable for both interior design and exterior facade applications
- Indoors, it is commonly specified for living rooms, entrance halls, staircases, TV feature walls, and headboard wall paneling
- Installed modularly on flat wall surfaces, it adds visual depth and a classic aesthetic
- In commercial environments, it acts as a prominent architectural detail in hotel receptions, ballrooms, restaurants, cafes, and retail window displays
- For exterior applications, it can be installed on villa entryways, building porticos, and facade walls
- When used outdoors, applying a UV-resistant exterior paint is recommended
- Ensure the wall or column substrate is dry, clean, and free from dust before installation
- Apply polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive to the rear of the half column shaft and press it onto the surface
- Due to the height and profile of the product, mechanical fixing with screws and wall plugs is required
- If trimming is necessary, cut using a fine-toothed saw at a 45° miter angle
- Joints and screw recesses should be filled with a suitable interior or exterior joint compound
- Once dried, sand smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper
- The factory-applied primer coat is ready for painting; complete the installation by applying at least two topcoats of water-based or solvent-based paint
- Do not use silicone adhesives
- Made from rigid polyurethane, the column shaft is moisture-resistant and simple to maintain
- Surface dust and dirt can be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemical solvents, or thinners, as these may damage the painted finish
- For exterior installations, an annual surface inspection and minor paint touch-ups when needed will preserve its long-term appearance
Can the P553050 patterned half column be used outdoors?
Yes, its closed-cell polyurethane structure with a water absorption rate under 1% makes it fully suitable for exterior application. For long-term weather resistance outdoors, it must be painted with a UV-resistant exterior paint after installation.
How is the product installed, and which adhesive should be used?
Installation requires polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive combined with screws and wall plugs for mechanical securing. Silicone adhesives should not be used as they do not provide adequate bonding strength. Joints and screw holes are filled with compound, sanded, and painted.
Does the product come painted, and is painting required?
The product is supplied with a factory-applied white primer coat. While this primer prepares the surface, applying at least two topcoats of water-based or synthetic paint after installation is recommended for final color and protection.
What advantages do polyurethane columns offer over plaster or wood?
Polyurethane is lightweight, impact-resistant, and non-brittle compared to plaster. Unlike wood, it is resistant to rot and moisture-related deterioration and cracking when exposed to moisture. Its high density of 150-220 kg/m³ supports shape retention across the dimensional stability test range -20 °C / +70 °C.
Can this half column be used as a structural support?
No, this product is purely a decorative cladding element and does not possess structural load-bearing capacity. However, it can safely be used to encase existing structural concrete or steel posts, or to create decorative column accents on walls.
