Classical Architectural Orders and Design Diversity
Column capitals are the most critical decorative elements that crown the vertical architectural lines of structures and establish aesthetic hierarchy. Drawing inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman architecture, our product range finds a wide area of application from classical projects to modern designs. The Corinthian, Ionic, and Doric designs in our product line are engineered to work in perfect dimensional harmony with our main column systems with ID 266. For instance, the P5230C model (543x543x420 mm), which stands out with its rich acanthus leaf ornamentation, is an ideal Corinthian capital option for grand entrance designs. On the other hand, the P5220D (284x284x124 mm), featuring simpler and more geometric lines, is frequently preferred in simplified classical decoration schemes.
To create depth on flat wall surfaces and achieve a recessed half-column effect, we also offer custom-cut designs for pilaster applications. Alternatives like the P5220C50 (180x360x277 mm) half-column capital integrate seamlessly with wall panels, especially in narrow corridors or around fireplaces, adding a rich layer of depth to the project. Compared to heavy materials like marble or stone, these architectural elements do not impose additional structural loads on the building, ensuring a safe and secure installation process.
Material Technology and Physical Advantages
Unlike traditional plaster or wood, these products manufactured with next-generation polyurethane technology offer outstanding dimensional stability. The high-density structure of 150-200 kg/m³ provides a hardness close to wood while maintaining the material's lightweight nature. This density level ensures high impact resistance while offering ease of cutting and processing on-site. Thanks to the closed-cell structure of the material, its water absorption rate is below 1%. This completely prevents the product from swelling, rotting, or molding in humid environments.
Extremely stable against temperature fluctuations, these elements do not lose their shape, shrink, or warp within a wide operating range of -20°C to +80°C. In the event of fire, they exhibit a flame-retardant and self-extinguishing behavior once the flame source is removed. Unlike EPS foam materials, their surface smoothness and detail definition are exceptionally high; thus, they can be sanded, puttied, and painted multiple times for a long-lasting lifespan.
Factory Primer and Painting Guidelines
Our products are delivered pre-coated with a special factory primer to protect surface quality and enhance paint adhesion. This primer coat facilitates better bonding of the topcoat to the surface. However, it should be noted that paint manufacturers do not guarantee applications done without their own primer products. Therefore, applying an additional primer coat before installation is entirely optional, and the choice and responsibility rest with the customer. As Polure, we do not assume responsibility for the performance and surface warranty of the topcoat paints used. While water-based or synthetic paints can be preferred for interiors, UV-resistant exterior paint must absolutely be used in outdoor applications to prevent the material from yellowing under UV rays.
Usage Areas
Column capitals offer a wide range of applications in both interior decorations and exterior facade designs. Indoors, they create aesthetic transition points for vertical support systems in spacious areas such as hotel lobbies, restaurants, convention centers, and wedding halls. In residential projects, decorative column capital models are preferred for focal points like living room entrances, hallway transitions, fireplace surrounds, and behind TV units. For wall-recessed designs, half-column capital models serve as pilaster elements that add depth to the space. Outdoors, they are utilized in villa entrances, building portals, balcony columns integrated with floor moldings, and veranda systems. Thanks to their negligible water absorption rate, they adapt perfectly to outdoor conditions. For outdoor use, protecting the surface with UV-resistant paint is a technical necessity to prevent damage from the harsh effects of sunlight.
Installation
Installing column capitals requires precise execution of specific technical steps to ensure a long-lasting and seamless finish:

Surface Preparation: The application surface must be completely clean, dry, and free of dust and grease.

Cutting: A 45-degree miter cut must be made for the joints of the pieces.

Gluing: Polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive must be applied evenly to the joints and contact surfaces. Silicone-based adhesives must absolutely not be used during installation.

Mechanical Fastening: Using adhesive alone is not sufficient; for safety and dimensional stability, the products must be mechanically secured to the surface using screws.

Surface Finishing: Screw heads and joints should be filled with exterior putty or suitable fillers, and once dry, sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper.

Painting: After dusting the surface, an optional extra coat of primer can be applied, followed by at least two coats of paint.

Care Information
Thanks to their rigid polymer structure, column capitals require minimal maintenance. Dust accumulated indoors can be easily cleaned using a slightly damp, soft cloth. Harsh chemical solvents, thinners, or abrasive detergents that could damage the paint layer on the surface must never be used during cleaning. For exterior applications, dust and mud residues accumulated on the surface during seasonal transitions can be washed off with water. It should be noted that unpainted material may yellow over time under the sun; therefore, the condition of the protective paint layer outdoors should be checked periodically.
