The P5240I50 is a premium polyurethane column capital that seamlessly integrates the Ionic style—one of the most enduring and aesthetic elements of Ancient Greek architecture—into modern interior and exterior designs. Specially engineered for flat-backed wall pillars (pilasters) and half-column configurations, this decorative capital adds depth and structural character to any space. It serves as the perfect alternative for bringing the full grandeur of classical architecture to your projects, without the heavy weight and fragility associated with traditional cast materials like plaster or concrete.
Featuring dimensions of 238 mm in depth, 635 mm in width, and 255 mm in height, this product boasts a highly prominent and robust profile. Its wood-like durability stems from high-density (150-200 kg/m³) rigid polyurethane. Exceptionally stable under temperature fluctuations, this tough polymer material suffers no dimensional deviation or deformation between -20°C and +80°C. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%, completely preventing swelling, rotting, or mold growth in humid environments.
The striking symmetrical volute (scroll) curves in its visual design capture the finest details of ancient column craftsmanship. The circular spirals on both sides and the leaf-motif reliefs in the center are rendered with smooth, sharp lines using high-precision molding technology. Unlike materials like EPS foam, its non-porous, smooth, and impact-resistant surface delivers a sense of flawless craftsmanship even upon close inspection.
For exterior applications, the polyurethane surface must be coated with a UV-resistant paint to protect it from the degrading effects of sunlight, ensuring excellent weather resistance. Delivered factory-primed in white, the product provides a strong bond for the topcoat. However, since paint manufacturers do not guarantee applications done without their own primers, applying an additional primer coat before the final paint is left entirely to the user's discretion.
During installation, it is mandatory to use Polure Polfix polyurethane adhesive, followed by mechanical fastening with screws. Once screw holes and joints are filled with exterior-grade putty and sanded, the product can be painted in any desired color. It will not crumble like plaster, suffer insect damage like wood, or add extra static load to your building, offering a lifetime decorative solution.
- Thanks to its balanced width and depth ratios, the P5240I50 column capital is highly versatile for both interior and exterior projects
- Externally, it is widely preferred for non-load-bearing decorative columns flanking villa entrance doors, building porticos, and balcony or veranda support pillars
- Indoors, it is ideal for cladding wall columns or crowning doorways in spacious venues such as hotel lobbies, grand halls, wedding venues, and convention centers
- With a width of 63.5 cm, this model is perfect for pilaster (faux column) applications on flat walls, creating a stunning focal point around fireplaces or within classical wall paneling behind TV units
- The installation surface must be completely free of dust and moisture
- Apply Polure Polfix adhesive in strips to the back of the product
- Once positioned on the wall, mechanical fastening with screws at suitable points is mandatory to prevent slippage and ensure safety (silicone adhesives are not suitable for this purpose)
- After the adhesive dries, cover screw heads and joints with acrylic exterior putty
- Once the putty is dry, sand it smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Following an optional additional primer coat, complete the installation by applying at least two coats of UV-resistant paint for outdoor use, or water-based/synthetic paint for indoor use
- Thanks to its fully waterproof structure, the polyurethane column capital can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth
- Avoid using abrasive acidic chemicals, hydrochloric acid, or strong solvents during cleaning, as they may damage the surface
- For exterior applications, a yearly visual inspection is recommended to check the condition of the joint fillers and extend the paint's lifespan, performing local paint touch-ups as necessary
