P5250I is a large-scale column capital design that brings the Ionic order, one of the most prominent symbols of classical ancient architecture, to modern structures. With its square top plate and circular bottom base, it aesthetically completes the top of the columns. Unlike heavy alternatives such as plaster or marble, its lightweight structure adds a majestic look to buildings without imposing any extra structural load.
This capital features an imposing form with dimensions of 850x850 mm in width and 692 mm in height. Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-200 kg/m³), the product offers wood-like hardness. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%, preventing rotting, swelling, or cracking in humid environments. With a temperature resistance ranging from -20°C to +80°C, it remains unaffected by harsh outdoor weather conditions.
The design highlights the characteristic spiral volutes of Ancient Greek architecture. The side scrolls combine with the central egg-and-dart pattern and leaf motifs to deliver a deep-shadowed, three-dimensional visual appeal. Its surface is pre-primed at the factory for a smooth finish. While this factory primer prepares the surface for painting, applying an additional primer coat is optional—often preferred to enhance the durability of the topcoat, especially since some paint manufacturers require their own primers for warranty purposes.
Suitable for both interior and exterior applications, this large column capital is ideal for crowning full or half-round columns in hotel lobbies, villa entrances, wedding venues, spacious restaurants, and landscaped areas. Thanks to its wide seating area, it can be easily wrapped around load-bearing columns for decorative purposes.
Installation is carried out on a clean surface using Polure Polfix adhesive, followed by mechanical fastening with screws. Once the joints are filled with exterior-grade filler and sanded, the product must be painted with UV-resistant paint for outdoor use. Compared to plaster, it is shatterproof, and it offers superior impact resistance compared to EPS foam.
- This large-scale column capital is preferred for spacious areas where a striking architectural focal point is desired
- In exterior designs, it serves as a decorative crowning element on monumental columns at luxury villa entrances, facade claddings of hotels and business centers, and under classically styled verandas or porches
- Indoors, it is used to complete the top of columns in high-ceilinged hotel lobbies, ballrooms, wedding venues, grand restaurant entrances, and prestigious office designs
- It can be applied to full circular columns as well as half-columns to add depth to wall surfaces
- For outdoor applications, it must be painted with UV-resistant exterior paint to protect it from the degrading effects of sunlight
- Ensure the installation surface is completely clean, dry, and free of dust or moisture
- Apply Polure Polfix adhesive to the contact points where the capital meets the column shaft and the top mounting surface, then set it in place
- Given the product's volume and weight, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory for a secure installation
- Fill screw holes and joints with a high-quality exterior filler
- Once dry, sand the surface smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Although the factory-applied primer prepares the surface for painting, an additional primer coat may be applied depending on the paint manufacturer's warranty terms
- Finally, apply at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- The Polure polyurethane column capital is highly durable and requires minimal maintenance
- For indoor use, it can be easily cleaned using a duster or a slightly damp cloth
- For outdoor installations, accumulated dust and dirt can be washed off with low-pressure water or wiped with a soapy cloth
- Avoid using abrasive chemicals or stiff brushes that could damage the surface
- For exterior applications, the painted surface should be inspected annually to maintain its vibrant appearance and UV protection; perform local sanding and paint touch-ups as necessary
