The P5260C50 is a high-strength polyurethane column capital designed to crown column designs in classical architectural projects. Measuring 540 mm in width, 1085 mm in depth, and 835 mm in height, it offers an ideal volume for monumental-scale projects. Positioned at the pinnacle of decorative column systems that evoke a load-bearing column feel in spacious interiors, it flawlessly completes the architectural composition.
A closer look at the surface design reveals a harmonious blend of classical Corinthian and Ionic orders. Prominent acanthus leaves wrapping around the lower body, spiral volute scrolls at the corners, and carved floral motifs expanding toward the top plate give the product a deep three-dimensional character. These intricate carving details bring the aesthetics of traditional stonemasonry together with modern manufacturing standards.
Deriving its rigid and durable structure from a cellular formula with a density of 150-220 kg/m³, this product matches the hardness of wood but remains exceptionally lightweight compared to materials like plaster or marble. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%, preventing swelling, rotting, or cracking in humid environments. These physical advantages ensure long-lasting performance in both interior spaces and harsh outdoor conditions.
The product is shipped factory-primed in white. Although the factory primer prepares the surface for the topcoat, paint manufacturers typically do not guarantee applications done without their own primers; therefore, applying an additional primer coat is entirely at the customer's discretion. For exterior applications, using UV-resistant paints is mandatory to prevent the material from yellowing under sunlight.
During installation, due to its large dimensions, using adhesive alone is insufficient, and mechanical screw fastening is required. Only Polure Polfix should be used for bonding, avoiding silicone-based adhesives. After installation, screw holes and joints should be filled with an exterior-grade filler, sanded smooth, and then painted.
- The P5260C50 column capital offers a wide range of applications for both interior and exterior spaces
- Outdoors, it is preferred for creating monumental columns at luxury villa entrances, hotel and restaurant facades, wedding venue portals, and open-air verandas
- Indoors, it serves as the perfect crowning element for decorative half-column or full-column installations in high-ceilinged spacious halls, hotel lobbies, and classical-style restaurant or retail concepts
- Thanks to its grand dimensions, it can also be positioned as a visual load-bearing element in wide archways or ceiling beam supports
- The application surface must be dry, clean, and free of dust
- Apply Polure Polfix adhesive to the back and joint surfaces of the product; do not use silicone
- Due to the volume and weight of the product, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory in addition to the adhesive
- Screw heads and joints must be filled with an exterior-grade acrylic filler
- Once the filler dries, sand it smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Following an optional additional coat of primer, paint with at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- The polyurethane column capital is extremely easy to clean
- It can be wiped periodically with a damp cloth
- Avoid using abrasive chemicals and stiff brushes during cleaning
- For exterior applications, the painted surface should be inspected annually and touched up if necessary to maintain its protective qualities
- Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details
Will the P5260C50 column capital be affected by rain on the exterior?
No, the product is manufactured from closed-cell polyurethane material with a water absorption rate of less than 1%. It is resistant to rain, snow, and moisture, and will not rot or swell.
Is it sufficient to use only adhesive during installation?
No, since the P5260C50 model is a large product measuring 540x1085x835 mm, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory alongside Polure Polfix adhesive for safety reasons.
Do I absolutely need to apply a primer before painting the product?
The product is shipped factory-primed in white. However, since paint manufacturers do not guarantee applications done without their own primers, applying an additional primer after installation is entirely at your discretion.
Which type of paint should I prefer for outdoor use?
Unpainted or standard-painted polyurethane material can yellow over time under sunlight. Therefore, UV-resistant exterior paints must be used for outdoor applications.
What are its advantages compared to plaster column capitals?
It is much lighter and easier to install compared to plaster. Additionally, it is impact-resistant, does not crack or crumble, and does not degrade when exposed to moisture.
