Above-door Arch

An above-door arch is an arch-form polyurethane decorative piece applied to the upper part of a door. It frames the door's flat lintel in a semicircular or shallow arc shape, creating an arched entrance look. It is used at interior and exterior door entrances, as well as above passages and niches, where a classical arched top is wanted. The polyurethane material is light and applies directly with assembly adhesive and screws; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell and can be painted. Because it is mould-cast, the arch profile repeats at the same radius on every piece. Being lighter than plaster makes above-door installation easier, and unlike wood it is unaffected by moisture. Polure produces above-door arch pieces in a range of radii and widths.
