Although the factory primer prepares the surface, paint manufacturers may not guarantee applications done without their own primers; therefore, applying an additional primer is optional and at the customer's discretion. For exterior applications, using UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory to prevent yellowing caused by sunlight.
