The P2842L polyurethane pediment is a premium architectural element that seamlessly blends classic ornamental design with the lightweight advantages of modern materials. Designed to crown doors and windows, this large-scale decorative header adds monumental depth to any facade or interior space. Featuring the intricate curves and symmetrical leaf patterns of traditional woodcarving, this piece is the perfect architectural solution for projects looking to enrich vertical design lines.
Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), this product offers a surface durability comparable to hardwood without adding unnecessary weight to the building structure. With a depth of 90 mm, a width of 1070 mm, and a height of 720 mm, it boasts a highly prominent and robust profile. Thanks to its closed-cell structure that resists moisture, water, and mold, it retains its shape for decades in both interior and exterior applications, completely avoiding common deformations of wood and plaster such as cracking, shrinking, or warping.
The visual design features exquisite acanthus leaf scrolls, spiral volutes, and beaded pearl reliefs inspired by classic Baroque and Rococo styles. These fluid, dynamic reliefs are flawlessly captured down to the finest detail, thanks to advanced polyurethane molding technology. This asymmetric, left-oriented design creates a perfectly balanced focal point at the apex of door and window frames, whether used individually or paired with its counterpart.
Offering versatile applications, this decorative pediment is highly favored for grand villa entrance doors, archways in high-ceilinged living rooms, over-mantel fireplace decorations, and hotel lobby portals. On exterior facades, it serves as an elegant header completing window trim systems. Its moisture-resistant nature makes it safe for humid areas and bathrooms, adding a prestigious touch to luxury restaurants, offices, and classical interior designs.
Delivered ready-to-paint with a factory-applied white primer, the product should be installed using Polure Polfix adhesive and secured mechanically with screws. Unlike fragile plaster alternatives or wood prone to rot, polyurethane minimizes long-term maintenance costs. Can be painted with water-based or synthetic paints to match your design palette, adding lasting value to your property.
- The P2842L polyurethane pediment model offers highly versatile applications thanks to its generous dimensions and deep relief structure
- In exterior designs, it is positioned as a protective and decorative header above main villa entrance doors and at the apex of wide window trims
- Indoors, it is ideal for creating stunning focal points in high-ceilinged living rooms, over-mantel wall paneling, and archways in luxury hotel or restaurant lobbies
- It can also be integrated into furniture designs, such as headboards, large wall mirrors, or classical bookcases
- Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details
- Before installation, ensure the application surface is clean, dry, and free of dust
- Apply Polure Polfix adhesive to the back of the P2842L pediment and press it onto the surface
- Due to the product's width and weight, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory to prevent slippage while the adhesive cures
- Fill screw heads and joints with an exterior-grade acrylic filler, and once dry, sand smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- While the product comes factory-primed, applying an additional primer is optional, depending on your paint manufacturer's warranty terms
- Complete the installation by applying at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- For exterior applications, UV-resistant paint must be used
- Maintaining the polyurethane pediment is highly practical
- Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details
- Avoid abrasive, acidic, or harsh chemical cleaners, as they may damage the paint finish
- While indoor applications require no special maintenance other than occasional dusting, exterior installations should be inspected annually to extend paint life, with touch-ups applied using UV-resistant paint if necessary
- In case of heavy dirt, it can be washed with low-pressure water
Can the polyurethane pediment model be used on exterior facades?
Yes, the P2842L polyurethane pediment resists moisture and harsh weather conditions due to its closed-cell structure, making it suitable for exterior use. However, to prevent UV rays from yellowing the unpainted surface, it must be coated with a UV-resistant exterior paint after installation.
Which adhesive should I use to install the product?
During installation, Polure Polfix adhesive, which offers high bonding strength, should be used. Silicone-based adhesives must be avoided as they do not provide long-term adhesion on polyurethane. Additionally, due to the product's large dimensions, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory alongside the adhesive.
Can the product be used directly without painting, and is an additional primer required?
The product comes with a factory-applied white primer, making it ready for painting. However, because paint manufacturers may not warranty applications done without their own primers, applying an additional primer is entirely optional. Painting the product is required to protect it from outdoor weather elements and UV rays.
What are the advantages of polyurethane pediments compared to plaster or wood alternatives?
Compared to plaster, polyurethane pediments are extremely lightweight and shatterproof, making them easy to install while putting only a limited load on the building. Compared to wood, they offer protection against moisture and pests, helping prevent rot, cracking, or warping over time. They also offer much sharper and crisper relief details.
Are the dimensions of the P2842L model suitable for large spaces?
Yes, with a width of 107 cm and a height of 72 cm, this model features a grand and prominent design. It offers the ideal scale for large villa doors, wide windows, hotel lobbies, and spacious high-ceilinged rooms. Since it may overwhelm small or narrow spaces, it is best suited for projects with generous horizontal and vertical volumes.
