The Pilaster Column is a polyurethane-based decorative product designed to create a vertical architectural accent on walls and facade surfaces. Its 15x15x240 cm dimensions add a clear vertical rhythm, especially to tall walls and entrance areas. The pilaster form does not replace existing structural columns; it is used as a decorative covering applied over load-bearing surfaces.
The Pilaster Column is made from rigid polyurethane with a closed-cell structure. Its density is 150-220 kg/m³. Compared with plaster, concrete, stone and solid wood alternatives, this construction provides a lighter installation while helping the decorative profile retain its shape. Dimensional stability has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C. Its water absorption is below 1%, and it offers high dimensional stability. In terms of reaction to fire, it is classified as B2, a difficult-to-ignite class.
The 15 cm square section allows the pilaster to function as a clearly visible architectural element without taking up excessive wall space. Its 240 cm height is practical for single-storey interior walls, entrance openings and facade arrangements. The factory-primed surface can be finished with water-based or synthetic paint. The factory primer prepares the surface for painting, although paint manufacturers may not guarantee applications carried out without their own primer. For this reason, the use of an additional primer should be assessed according to the selected paint system.
The Pilaster Column can be used to divide walls in living rooms, entrance halls, around staircases, shops, offices, restaurants and hotel lobbies. At villa entrances or around facade openings, it can create a vertical framing effect when combined with suitable exterior paint. The product is decorative and does not carry structural loads. For exterior applications, UV-resistant paint should be used, and joints and screw heads should be sealed with exterior-grade filler.
Before installation, the surface must be clean, dry, even and sound. After checking the measurements, cuts are prepared with a 45° mitre. Polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive is used for fixing; silicone adhesive should not be used. The product must also be mechanically secured with screws, taking its own weight and connection loads into account. Joints are filled with filler and smoothed with 180-220 grit sandpaper, followed by primer and two coats of paint according to the selected paint system.
Compared with plaster, it offers a lighter material with greater resistance to breakage; compared with wood, it provides better resistance to moisture and decay. It also helps create a harder, more detailed surface than EPS foam. The Pilaster Column can be cut, filled, sanded and repainted, making it a practical decorative element for adapting classical architectural lines to interior and exterior projects.
- The Pilaster Column is used to divide wall surfaces vertically and create an architectural framing effect
- Its 15x15 cm section is suitable for highlighting wall axes around TV units or fireplaces in living rooms
- In entrance halls, it can be installed on both sides of door openings to emphasize their height; on stair landings, it can be combined with wall panels to create a rhythmic arrangement
- It can be used behind reception desks or beside wall niches in hotel lobbies, restaurants and retail projects
- In offices, it creates a classical architectural appearance on reception-area and executive-office walls
- On villa and detached-house facades, it can be used beside windows, doors or entrance compositions
- For exterior applications, the product should be painted, preferably with UV-resistant paint, and joints should be sealed with exterior-grade filler
- The Pilaster Column is not a structural column; it is installed as a decorative covering over an existing load-bearing surface
- Its 240 cm height simplifies planning for cutting and joining on standard interior walls
- The installation surface must be clean, dry, even and sound
- Before transferring the measurements to the wall, check the pilaster position and joint locations
- Where cuts are required, use a 45° mitre to create accurate joints
- The Pilaster Column is fixed to the surface with polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive; silicone adhesive must not be used
- Because the product has its own weight and connection loads, mechanical fixing with screws is required
- For wide or special installations, the connection solution should be assessed separately according to the surface conditions
- Screw heads and joints are covered with suitable filler
- Once dry, the surface is smoothed with 180-220 grit sandpaper
- The factory primer prepares the surface for painting; an additional primer may be applied according to the paint manufacturer's system
- Finally, apply two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- For exterior applications, use UV-resistant paint and exterior-grade filler
- Clean the Pilaster Column surface with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth
- Do not use a stiff brush, abrasive sponge or strong cleaning products with unknown solvent content to remove dust
- During cleaning, avoid contact with cutting tools or equipment that could strike or damage the surface
- The need to refresh the paint depends on the paint system used, whether the product is installed indoors or outdoors, and its exposure to sunlight
- For exterior applications, inspect joints, screw points and paint integrity periodically
- Damaged areas can be repaired by applying filler, sanding, primer and paint in that order
Can the P5015W Pilaster Column be used outdoors?
Yes, the P5015W can be used for exterior decoration. It is not a structural column but a decorative element applied over an existing surface. It must not be left unpainted outdoors; it should be finished with UV-resistant paint. Joints and screw points should be sealed with exterior-grade filler. Before installation, check the soundness of the facade surface, the fixing method and details directly exposed to rain.
How is the Pilaster Column installed and painted?
Prepare a clean, dry and sound surface. After checking the measurements, make the cuts with a 45° mitre. Use polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive for fixing and mechanically secure the product with screws; do not use silicone. Fill the joints and smooth them with 180-220 grit sandpaper. The factory primer prepares the surface for painting; an additional primer may be used depending on the paint system. Finish with two coats of water-based or synthetic paint.
Is the P5015W Pilaster Column heavy and durable?
The Pilaster Column is made from rigid, closed-cell polyurethane with a density of 150-220 kg/m³. It therefore provides a lighter decorative solution than comparable plaster, concrete, stone and solid wood products. The product's dimensional stability has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C, and its water absorption is below 1%. Durability also depends on surface preparation, mechanical fixing, the paint system and installation conditions, not only on the product itself.
Why choose a Pilaster Column instead of plaster or wood?
A polyurethane Pilaster Column is lighter than plaster and more resistant to breakage. Compared with wood, it offers better resistance to moisture, decay and insects. It is harder than EPS foam and helps the decorative profile retain its shape more effectively. It can also be cut, filled, sanded and painted. However, the product does not carry structural loads and must be used only as a decorative covering.
What are the dimensions of the P5015W Pilaster Column, and which projects is it suitable for?
The P5015W Pilaster Column measures 15x15x240 cm. Its 15 cm square section creates a clear vertical framing effect without unnecessarily narrowing the passage area. Its 240 cm height is suitable for walls in living rooms, entrance halls, hotel lobbies, restaurants, shops and offices. It can also be used beside door or window compositions on villa facades. Cutting, joint and fixing points should be planned before installation.
