The decorative polyurethane architectural element with reference code P14D25D120VI is a semi-circular architectural profile designed to bring the aesthetic lines of classical architecture to life in curved door, window, and corridor transitions. Creating a perfectly symmetrical semi-circle with a net outer span width of 1520 mm and a peak height of 760 mm, this product is ideal for crowning interior door openings, hallways, and niches, as well as framing the upper part of windows on exterior facades like a decorative molding. Thanks to its width and 60 mm thickness, it creates a distinct depth on the applied surface, adding dimension to facade and wall designs.
Manufactured from high-density (150-220 kg/m³) rigid polyurethane, this curved profile offers a surface hardness close to wood while remaining exceptionally lightweight. Thanks to this lightweight structure, it does not impose any additional static load on the building or the application surface during installation. With its closed-cell structure, the product has a water absorption rate of less than 1%, helping prevent structural issues such as moisture, humidity, and decay. Additionally, it provides functional decorative benefits and helps maintain its shape over time, reducing the risk of cracking or expansion, thanks to its dimensional stability under temperature fluctuations between -20 °C / +70 °C.
An analysis of its visual design reveals a smooth profile surface consisting of nested, stepped, and circular lines. This layered curved structure creates an aesthetic visual richness in the applied area through the interplay of light and shadow. The product is delivered factory-primed in white. This primer coat facilitates the adhesion of the topcoat to the surface. However, since paint manufacturers do not guarantee applications made without their own primers, applying an additional primer before the topcoat is optional and left to the user's discretion. Polure assumes no responsibility for the performance of the applied paints.
Standing out with its durable and impact-resistant structure compared to the fragility and weight of traditional plaster materials, this polyurethane arch does not rot or suffer from insect infestation due to moisture like wood does. Unlike fragile and detail-lacking EPS styrofoam materials, it offers premium quality with its sharp lines and smooth texture. The fact that it can be easily filled, sanded, and repainted when necessary makes the product's lifespan virtually unlimited.
The product is suitable for exterior facade applications; however, it must be coated with a UV-resistant paint outdoors to prevent the unpainted material from yellowing under sunlight. For interior spaces, it can be colored with water-based or synthetic paints to match your decoration style. Thanks to its easy-to-work structure, it offers a fast and effortless installation process for your projects.
- Thanks to its versatile design, this decorative round curved arch has a wide range of applications in both interior and exterior facade projects
- In exterior architecture, it is frequently preferred to aesthetically complete window frames, especially in curved and arched over-window molding applications
- It can be used as a grand crowning element over the entrance doors of private villas, hotels, and historical buildings
- In interior decoration, it is an excellent solution for creating arched transitions under ceilings in spacious living room passages, entryways, and hallways
- It can also be used to define the upper curves of wall niches, frame circular wall panel designs behind headboards, or create arched partition walls in commercial spaces like restaurants and cafes
- When used on exterior facades, the product must be painted with a UV-resistant exterior paint after installation
- Installation must be carried out on a clean, dry, and smooth surface
- First, the wall or facade surface where the curved arch profile will be applied is cleared of dust and dirt
- Only Polure Polfix adhesive should be used to bond the product to the installation surface; silicone-based adhesives must strictly be avoided
- After applying the adhesive, mechanical fastening with screws or dowels is mandatory to ensure the product is fully seated and does not slip
- Screw holes and joints are filled with a high-quality filler
- Once the filler dries, it is sanded with 180-220 grit sandpaper until a smooth surface is achieved
- In the final stage, an optional primer can be applied in accordance with the warranty conditions of the paint brands, followed by at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint to complete the installation
- Made of polyurethane material, this curved arch is extremely easy and effortless to maintain
- Dust accumulated indoors can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth
- The use of abrasive, acidic, or harsh chemical cleaning agents is not recommended during cleaning
- For exterior applications, dust and mud residues accumulated on the surface can be washed off with low-pressure water
- To preserve the lifespan and vibrancy of the paint in outdoor conditions, it is recommended to inspect the paint coat periodically, depending on the sun exposure of the area, and renew it if necessary
- Thanks to its impact-resistant rigid structure, it does not require any extra protective measures
Is it weather-resistant on exterior facades?
Yes, thanks to its closed-cell structure, our product is resistant to water, moisture, and frost. With dimensional stability tested between -20 °C and +70 °C, it will not freeze, crack, or shrink on exterior facades. However, to protect it from the yellowing effects of sunlight (UV) outdoors, it must be painted with a UV-resistant exterior paint after installation.
Which adhesive should be used for installation, and are screws mandatory?
Only Polure Polfix should be used as the adhesive during installation. To safely support the weight of polyurethane products and prevent sagging over time, mechanical fastening with screws or dowels is mandatory in addition to the adhesive. Screw heads can later be completely concealed with filler and sanding.
Can the product be used directly without being painted?
Although the product comes factory-primed in white, it must be painted for final use. Polyurethane material left unpainted may yellow over time due to UV rays. Painting it with water-based paints indoors and UV-resistant paints outdoors is essential for both aesthetics and longevity.
What are its advantages compared to plaster arches?
Plaster arches are quite heavy and fragile; they carry a high risk of cracking during installation and add load to the building. In contrast, polyurethane arches are lightweight, impact-resistant, and flexible. They are moisture-resistant, and their installation is much faster and cleaner. Additionally, they do not crumble or produce dust.
Are the dimensions of the product standard, and can it be adjusted by cutting?
The P14D25D120VI model comes in a standard semi-circular curve with a width of 1520 mm and a peak height of 760 mm. If needed, its length can be shortened by cutting the ends with a saw, or it can be adapted to wider spans by combining it with additional straight profiles. The cut areas can be smoothed out using filler.
