The P8107 polyurethane fretwork panel is an exclusive decorative element designed for architects and homeowners looking to bring depth and character to wall and ceiling surfaces. Featuring a symmetrical composition, it showcases a central oval medallion, classic acanthus leaf scrolls, and delicate floral motifs at the ends. Set within a rectangular frame, this intricate carved pattern plays with light and shadow, instantly transforming flat walls into dynamic design statements.
The panel measures 360 mm in height, 1056 mm in width, and 32 mm in thickness. These balanced dimensions allow for versatile modular installation, both horizontally and vertically. Engineered from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), it delivers a surface hardness comparable to wood while remaining lightweight to prevent structural strain. With dimensional stability tested between -20 °C and +70 °C, this material maintains its shape with resistance to shrinking, expansion, or cracking.
With a closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%, distinguishing it from traditional plaster or wood alternatives. Unlike plaster, it is resistant to crumbling when exposed to moisture, and unlike wood or MDF, it is resistant to swelling, rotting, and insect damage. This makes it an ideal choice for high-humidity interiors like bathrooms and kitchens, as well as exterior decorative accents.
The product is delivered pre-coated with a white factory primer, preparing the surface for the final coat of paint. However, since paint manufacturers typically do not guarantee finishes applied without their own primers, applying an additional primer coat before painting is optional and left to the customer's discretion. Polure does not assume responsibility for the performance or durability of the paints used. For outdoor applications, the panel must be coated with UV-resistant exterior paint to prevent yellowing from sun exposure.
Installation should be carried out on clean, dry surfaces. After making 45-degree miter cuts at the joints, use only Polure Polfix polyurethane adhesive for bonding. For a secure and long-lasting hold, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory. Once screw holes and joints are filled with acrylic filler and sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper, the installation is completed with an optional primer and two coats of water-based or synthetic paint.
- The P8107 polyurethane fretwork panel is a highly versatile decorative element with a wide range of applications
- Indoors, it can be used as a wall cladding to create a stunning focal point behind TV units or as an elegant headboard backdrop in bedrooms
- In living rooms, hotel lobbies, and restaurants, it serves beautifully as a decorative border or niche accent above classic boiserie paneling
- It is also ideal for ceiling decorations, creating symmetrical frames around ceiling medallions
- Thanks to its moisture-resistant properties, it acts as an elegant transition element on bathroom walls
- For exterior designs, it adds architectural character to buildings when used as a decorative accent panel above or below windows, between floor moldings, or over entrance doors
- The installation surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust
- If necessary, cut the panel edges using a 45-degree miter saw
- Apply Polure Polfix polyurethane adhesive in strips to the back of the panel and press it firmly onto the surface
- To prevent slippage while the adhesive cures, mechanical fastening with stainless steel screws is mandatory
- Fill screw heads and joint gaps with a high-quality acrylic or exterior-grade filler
- Once the filler is completely dry, sand the surface smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Following an optional primer coat based on the paint manufacturer's recommendation, complete the process by applying at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- Cleaning the polyurethane fretwork panel is highly practical
- Dust and dirt can be easily wiped away using a soft, damp cloth
- Avoid using abrasive chemicals, acidic solvents, or stiff brushes during cleaning, as these can damage the paint finish
- For outdoor installations, periodically check the paint condition depending on weather exposure, and when necessary, lightly sand and repaint using UV-resistant exterior paint
Can the P8107 fretwork panel be used on exterior walls?
Yes, with a water absorption rate under 1%, the P8107 polyurethane fretwork panel is fully suitable for exterior use. However, to prevent yellowing caused by UV rays, it must be painted with a UV-resistant exterior paint after installation.
Is it mandatory to use screws during installation?
Yes. For a secure and long-lasting installation, adhesive alone is not sufficient. After bonding the product with Polure Polfix adhesive, mechanical fastening with stainless steel screws is mandatory. Screw heads can easily be concealed later using filler and sanding.
Can the product be used directly without painting?
The product comes pre-primed in white. However, if polyurethane is left unpainted, it may yellow over time due to UV exposure. Therefore, painting after installation is highly recommended for both aesthetic harmony and long-term durability.
What are its advantages compared to decorative plaster panels?
Polyurethane panels are exceptionally lightweight compared to plaster, meaning they are resistant to cracking or crumbling during transport and installation. They offer high impact resistance and withstand moisture, making them suitable for humid areas like bathrooms with reduced risk of swelling or mold.
Is it necessary to apply an additional primer before installation?
The product is delivered with a factory primer ready for painting. However, paint brands typically do not guarantee their products unless their proprietary primers are used. Therefore, while an additional primer coat is not mandatory, it can be applied optionally based on your preference.
