Similar Products(Pilaster Column Ionic Capital)
This Ionic capital completes the upper section of a pilaster and defines the transition in classical architectural compositions. The P5020I polyurethane decorative element finishes the pilaster surface, creating a cohesive look around entrances, façades and interior spaces. Its decorative surface texture can be painted to match the project's colour scheme.
The product measures 28x28x19 cm, with a width and depth of 28 cm and a height of 19 cm. These dimensions create a clearly defined capital above the pilaster while remaining suitable for both compact and larger-scale applications. The closed-cell rigid PU structure has a density of 150-220 kg/m³. Water absorption is below 1%. Its high dimensional stability helps minimise the risk of shrinkage, expansion and warping under normal installation conditions.
The decorative surface of the P5020I Ionic capital can be painted to emphasise changes in light and shade. The factory primer helps prepare the surface for water-based or synthetic paint. Additional priming is optional; the paint manufacturer's warranty conditions should be checked separately. Polure does not warrant the paint system used and accepts no responsibility for issues arising from paint application. Unpainted PU may yellow on exterior surfaces, so UV-resistant paint is required outdoors.
The Ionic capital can be used above pilasters at residential entrances, around windows and doors on villa façades, in hotel lobbies, restaurant entrances and traditionally styled offices. Indoors, it can be added to pilaster arrangements in living rooms, hallways and around staircases. On façades, the capital forms part of a non-structural decorative cladding system; the product does not carry structural loads. Colour selection should be coordinated with the façade paint or interior wall composition.
Before installation, the surface must be clean, dry, sound and even. Required cuts should be made with a 45° mitre. The product is fixed with polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive, and mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory. For wide applications or installations subject to higher connection loads, mechanical support suitable for the selected section and project conditions should be considered. Silicone adhesive must not be used. Joints are filled with filler, smoothed with 180-220 grit sandpaper, then finished with primer and two coats of paint.
Rigid PU is lighter and more impact-resistant than plaster, and, unlike wood, it is moisture-resistant and resistant to rot and moisture-related deterioration. Compared with EPS foam, it provides a harder surface with sharper detail. Its dimensional stability has been tested within -20 °C / +70 °C. In fire conditions, it has fire class B2 (DIN 4102-1). P5020I is a repairable and paintable decorative component that completes classical pilaster applications.
- The P5020I Ionic pilaster capital is designed to complete the upper section of a pilaster
- Installed above pilasters on either side of a villa entrance, it gives greater definition to the façade composition
- Used with decorative frames around windows and doors, it creates the upper transition of a classical architectural arrangement
- It can also be installed above columns or wall pilasters in hotel lobbies, restaurant entrances and traditionally designed offices
- Indoors, it can be painted to coordinate with the wall colour in living rooms, hallways, stair landings and high-ceilinged passageways
- Outdoors, it is suitable for villa, manor house and commercial building entrances; UV-resistant paint is required for exterior applications
- The 28x28 cm base dimensions require the capital to match the pilaster section
- Before installation, check the existing pilaster width and ensure that the joint between the capital and the shaft does not create a noticeable overhang or gap
- The Ionic capital is decorative and must not be used as a structural support
- The installation surface must be clean, dry, sound and even
- Check the contact dimensions between the pilaster shaft and the capital; if required, make the cut with a 45° mitre
- Fix the P5020I to the surface using polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive only
- Silicone adhesive must not be used
- In addition to adhesive bonding, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory; the connection method should be selected according to the product section, substrate and installation conditions
- Cover screw heads and joint lines with suitable filler
- Once dry, smooth the surface with 180-220 grit sandpaper
- The factory primer prepares the surface for painting; additional primer is optional and depends on the customer and paint manufacturer's preference
- Finish with two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- UV-resistant paint should be used outdoors
- The P5020I surface can be cleaned with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth
- Hard brushes, abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products and impact cleaning methods may damage the decorative surface
- On exterior façades, inspect the paint layer and joints regularly
- If cracks, impact damage or blistering paint appear, clean and repair the affected area with suitable exterior filler, then renew the paint system
- Do not apply excessive pressure to connection points during cleaning
Can the P5020I Ionic capital be used outdoors?
Yes. The P5020I is a decorative component that completes the upper section of pilasters on exterior façades. It must be understood that the product is non-structural and intended only as decorative cladding. Because unpainted PU may yellow outdoors, UV-resistant paint is required. Joints and screw points should be sealed with exterior filler, and the painted surface should be checked according to the installation conditions. Villa entrances, classical façades and commercial building entrances are suitable applications.
How is the Ionic capital installed and painted?
First, make sure the surface is clean, dry, sound and even. Make any required cuts with a 45° mitre. Install the P5020I with polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive and secure it mechanically with screws; silicone must not be used. Fill the joints and screw points, then smooth them with 180-220 grit sandpaper. The factory primer prepares the surface for paint, while additional primer is optional. Finish by applying two coats of water-based or synthetic paint.
How durable is the P5020I, and how heavy is it?
The P5020I is made from rigid, closed-cell polyurethane with a density of 150-220 kg/m³. This makes it lighter than plaster, concrete, stone and solid wood, while providing a harder and more detailed surface than EPS foam. Water absorption is below 1%. The material is designed to retain its form. Durability depends on using the correct PU mounting adhesive, mandatory screw fastening, suitable paint and regular surface care.
Why choose a polyurethane Ionic capital instead of plaster or wood?
A rigid polyurethane Ionic capital is lighter and more impact-resistant than plaster. Compared with wood, it offers greater resistance to moisture and rot. Its closed-cell structure keeps water absorption below 1%. Moulded production helps maintain consistent decorative surface detail from one piece to another. The product can be cut, filled, sanded and repainted. However, the P5020I is non-structural and must be used only for decorative pilaster applications.
Which pilaster size is compatible with the P5020I?
The P5020I has a base size of 28x28 cm and a height of 19 cm. The section of the pilaster shaft supporting the capital should therefore be measured before installation. If the shaft and capital are incompatible, the joint may show an overhang or gap. Cutting, joining and fastening the product should be carried out according to the project conditions. The P5020I is an Ionic capital; it is not a structural column and is not designed to carry the load of the pilaster shaft.
