This loft bedroom, where natural wood warmth meets attic architecture, evokes the feeling of a peaceful and sheltered sanctuary. The most prominent feature of the room, the high 'A-frame' ceiling, is characterized by Polure's wood-look polyurethane beam applications. Walls in soft beige tones combine with dark walnut wood elements to bring the serenity of earth tones to the space. In this atmosphere where natural light filters through the ceiling slope, the symmetrical placement of furniture provides visual balance, while textured bedspreads and soft carpet choices complete the rustic identity of the room.
The centerpiece of the design, the polyurethane ceiling beams (the series ranging from P1981A to P1981L), feature surface details that perfectly reflect the texture of real logs. The main load-bearing appearing beams and side support elements used on the ceiling aesthetically fill the vertical volume of the space. Manufactured from high-density polyurethane material, these products offer a modern alternative to the heavy and maintenance-intensive nature of wood. Especially in areas like attics where temperature changes are intense, the non-expanding form of polyurethane provides a significant advantage.
The precast production technique used in the application process allows each beam to be cut and mounted with millimetric precision according to the ceiling slope. Thanks to the lightness of the polyurethane material, large surfaces can be covered without putting an additional load on the roof construction. Different forms and thicknesses of P1981 series products were used in both vertical and horizontal axes in this project to create a real truss structure illusion. The factory-finished paintable surface of the products was specially colored to match the dark antique oak tone in the project.
For designers who want to create a similar rustic atmosphere, it is recommended to choose the width of the ceiling beams (polyurethane beams) in direct proportion to the ceiling height. In spaces with low ceilings, spaciousness can be maintained by choosing thinner sectioned beams (P1981C, P1981D), while in high-volume areas like this project, thick and massive forms (P1981A, P1981B) increase architectural power. Linear LED systems hidden between the beams or industrial pendant sconces as in the visual will make the shadow plays of the wood texture more prominent in lighting selection.
Design Details
The perception of symmetry in the space has been brought to a perfect balance with vertical lines extending from the peak of the ceiling to the floor. The diagonal placement of the beams creates a strong focal point by directing the perspective to the center, the head of the bed. The coarse texture of the textiles used (fur and velvet) reinforces the intimacy of the environment by contrasting with the hard and sharp lines of the polyurethane beams. The angle of light hitting the underside of the beams highlights the three-dimensional depth and knotted structure of the material.
