The P1981A decorative beam is a high-performance architectural element designed for architects and interior designers looking to bring a rustic, natural wood texture to ceilings and walls. Replicating the deep grain patterns, cracks, and natural knots of real timber, this product is ideal for creating a warm chalet or loft atmosphere in living spaces.
Measuring 90 mm in width, 3000 mm in length, and 60 mm in height, this decorative profile is manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-200 kg/m³). While offering mechanical strength and impact resistance close to real wood, it is exceptionally lightweight compared to solid timber beams. Thanks to this lightweight structure, it adds no static load to the building during ceiling installations, significantly speeding up labor and application processes.
The rustic texture details reveal deep cracks and fibrous grain patterns that capture the natural, aged character of weathered oak or pine logs. This level of detail creates a sense of depth on ceilings, visually balancing the room's height. Due to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below one percent. Resistant to moisture, steam, mold, and pests, it prevents structural deformations such as warping, cracking, twisting, or rotting over time, unlike traditional wood materials.
The product is delivered with a factory-applied white protective primer. Although this primer prepares the surface for painting, applying an additional primer is entirely at the user's discretion, as paint manufacturers do not guarantee applications made without their own primers. Polure assumes no responsibility for the durability of the paints used on the product. The surface can easily be painted in any desired wood tone using water-based or synthetic paints, as well as antiquing techniques.
During installation, Polure Polfix adhesive should be applied to the cleaned surface, followed by mechanical fastening with screws at regular intervals. Once screw heads and joints are filled and sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper, the painting phase can begin. Unlike plaster or heavy solid wood alternatives, its break-resistant, easy-to-cut, and clean-to-apply structure provides great convenience on construction sites.
- The P1981A decorative beam is specifically designed to create non-structural rafter and timber systems in ceiling decorations
- Indoors, it is used to build ceiling grids or parallel ceiling bands in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, rustically designed cafes, restaurants, and hotel lobbies
- Outdoors, it is preferred as an aesthetic filler element under eaves on villa facades, on veranda ceilings, and in winter garden ceiling claddings
- To achieve an industrial-rustic look, decorative metal clamps or straps can be added to the beam joints
- In interior design projects, it can be applied in parallel layouts to partition ceilings in high-ceilinged loft apartments and improve acoustic comfort
- It also offers an aesthetic cladding solution for column and beam concealment projects
- In exterior designs, supported by corbels under roof overhangs, it can be used to create the appearance of horizontal load-bearing elements that complement traditional Turkish house or Alpine chalet concepts
- The application surface must be completely free of dust, moisture, and grease
- The P1981A beam profile is cut to the dimensions required by the project
- Polure Polfix adhesive is applied to the back of the profile and its joint surfaces before positioning it on the surface
- To prevent slipping while the adhesive cures and to ensure a secure installation, mechanical fastening with screws at regular intervals is mandatory
- Screw holes and joints are filled with an exterior-grade acrylic putty
- Once the putty is completely dry, a smooth surface is achieved using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Following an optional additional primer, the installation is completed by applying at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- The use of UV-resistant paint is mandatory for outdoor applications
- Thanks to their closed-cell structure, polyurethane beams are waterproof and can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth
- Abrasive chemicals, acidic solvents, or stiff brushes that could damage the surface texture and paint should not be used during cleaning
- Indoors, they retain their original form for many years without requiring extra maintenance
- For outdoor applications, the painted surface should be checked periodically to extend the paint's lifespan and maintain UV protection, and repainted after a light sanding if necessary
