In modern architectural projects, combining the warmth of natural textures with practical structural solutions plays a critical role in design success. Our Faux Wood Beams category consists of decorative elements manufactured with high-tech rigid polymer technology, eliminating the heavy weight and maintenance challenges of traditional timber. This exclusive collection is engineered to add depth, volume, and aesthetic appeal to ceiling and wall surfaces without adding static load to the building structure. Featuring the most preferred models of our 'Beam-Rafter-Log' product group, this series finds a wide range of applications in both rustic mountain cabins and contemporary industrial loft designs.
Technical Specifications and Material Structure
For the production of products in this category, a rigid polyurethane (PU) based closed-cell structure with a density of 150-200 kg/m³ is preferred. This specific density level gives the product a surface hardness close to real wood while keeping it extremely lightweight. The moisture absorption rate of the material is negligible at less than 1%. Consequently, it does not exhibit swelling, cracking, rotting, or dimensional deformation even in humid environments. Maintaining its shape at temperatures ranging from -20°C to +80°C, these elements preserve their original structure for many years due to their high dimensional stability. In terms of fire safety, they feature self-extinguishing properties when the flame source is removed.
Wide Model Range and Dimensional Diversity
To meet the needs of different architectural scales, our collection offers a wide variety of dimensions. We provide a rich selection ranging from the minimalist P1981J model (50x50 mm) designed for subtle decorations, to the massive P1981D model (350x320 mm) which creates the illusion of a main load-bearing beam in large-scale commercial projects. Medium and large-scale models such as P1981C, P1981E, and P1981G are ideal for creating rustic rafter arrangements on ceilings. Slimmer profile models like P1981A, P1981H, and P1981I allow for rhythmic and modern lines in ceiling claddings. Designed with a hollow 'U' shape, our products allow for easy concealment of unsightly structural elements such as cables, utility pipes, or steel beams.
Surface Preparation and Paint Application
All our products are shipped from the factory with a special primer applied to enhance paint adhesion. This factory primer prepares the surface for the topcoat application. However, since paint manufacturers do not guarantee applications made directly without their own primers, applying an additional primer coat before the final finish is optional and entirely at our customers' discretion. Polure does not assume any warranty or liability regarding the quality and performance of the paints used. Water-based or synthetic paints can be easily applied to our products. It should be noted that unpainted rigid polymer materials may yellow over time; therefore, the use of high UV-resistant paints is mandatory, especially for outdoor applications.
Advantages Over Traditional Wood
Installing traditional solid wood beams requires intensive labor, and they tend to crack over time due to drying, posing structural risks like insect infestation. Plaster ceiling elements, on the other hand, are extremely heavy and fragile, causing great difficulty during installation. EPS styrofoam materials are highly vulnerable to impacts and offer poor detail quality. Our rigid PU beams eliminate all these disadvantages. Replicating real wood texture, knots, and grain details perfectly on their surface, these products are lightweight compared to plaster and highly impact-resistant. Unlike wood, they are unaffected by moisture, do not rot, and do not attract insects. Compared to EPS styrofoam, they are extremely durable, solid, and feature smooth details. Additionally, contributing to thermal and acoustic insulation, these products can be easily filled, sanded, and repainted when necessary, offering long-lasting use.
Usage Areas
Our Faux Wood Beam models offer versatile use in both residential projects and prestigious commercial spaces. Indoors, they are preferred to create rustic ceiling layouts in living rooms, support country and retro styles in kitchens, and create warm ceiling decorations in dining rooms. Placed parallel to the ceiling line in hallways and corridors, they can enhance the perception of depth. In commercial spaces, they are frequently used to create an inviting atmosphere, especially in restaurants, cafes, wine cellars, mountain chalets, and boutique hotel lobbies. In loft apartments, bold profile models like P1981B and P1981F are ideal for visually dividing high ceilings and balancing the space. For exterior applications, they can be utilized as aesthetic details under eaves, on veranda ceilings, and in exterior ceiling claddings. To protect products used in these areas against outdoor weather conditions, they must be painted with UV-filtered exterior paints. They can also be positioned vertically on wall surfaces to achieve timber-frame wall designs.
Installation
The installation process is highly practical and yields perfect results when the correct steps are followed. First, ensure that the ceiling or wall surface to be applied is completely clean, dry, and free of dust. Installation axes should be determined using laser alignment tools. A 45-degree miter saw or a standard hand saw can be used for cutting. During the gluing phase, only high-strength polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive must be used; silicone-based adhesives should strictly be avoided. The adhesive is applied continuously to the edges of the product that contact the installation surface. To safely bear the weight of the beams and ensure structural safety, mechanical fastening with screws is MANDATORY. For large, wide-profile models like P1981D, it is recommended to slide the beam over wooden blocks previously screwed to the ceiling and then screw it in place. After installation is complete, screw heads and joints are filled with a high-quality joint filler. Once dry, it is sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper. Then, an optional primer coat is applied, and the process is completed with at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint. For exterior installations, joints and screw points must be sealed with a weather-resistant exterior filler, and the surface must be painted with UV-resistant exterior paint.
Care Information
Maintenance of our rigid polymer Faux Wood Beam models is completely effortless. They absolutely do not require laborious processes like periodic polishing, varnishing, or pest control needed for natural wood. To clean accumulated dust on the surface, using a soft duster or a dry microfiber cloth is sufficient. For cases requiring deeper cleaning, a slightly damp cloth and non-abrasive soapy water can be used. Harsh chemical cleaners containing alcohol, thinners, or solvent-based agents that could damage the product surface must never be used. Offering a lifespan of over 20 years under indoor conditions without losing their shape or texture, these products can be sanded and repainted in the future if a change in decor is desired. If minor damage occurs on the surface due to an impact, the area can easily be filled with wood filler, lightly sanded, and spot-painted to restore its original appearance.
