Living-Room Cornice Projects and Sizing
A living-room cornice is the decorative profile that forms an uninterrupted frame at the ceiling-to-wall junction and separates the two planes. Two dimensions decide the result: the ratio of profile height to ceiling height, and mitring the corners at 45°. The projects on this page are photographs of completed living rooms.
How to set the profile height in a living room

Patterned or plain in a living room?
Patterned profiles suit classic schemes together with a ceiling rose and panelling; plain or stepped profiles give a crisp shadow line in modern rooms.
How many metres are needed?
Measure the room perimeter in metres, add about 10% for corner and joint cuts and divide by the 2400-2440 mm bar length.
How are corners joined?
Mitred at 45°, dry-fitted, bonded with PU adhesive on the joint as well, then filled and sanded with 180-220 grit.
How is it applied with a suspended ceiling?
The cornice is fixed at the suspended level; if concealed lighting is required a separate hidden light profile is used, because a cornice has no channel.
