Column Capital

Column capital is the polyurethane decorative piece placed at the upper end of a column, forming the transition between the shaft and the ceiling or eave. According to classical orders it may come in plain, leafed or volute (scrolled) forms; it is the ornamental element that completes the column. It is used together with the shaft and base in facade and interior column applications. Polyurethane is lightweight and is fixed in place with assembly adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Being lighter than stone and concrete, it makes installation at the upper point easier. Because it is mould-made, the motif details repeat identically across every piece. Polure produces the column capital in a range of diameters and order options.
