Polyurethane Curved Handrail and Balustrade Top Cap Profile

The PBK28D304H curved top cap profile is a decorative architectural element specially developed for corner transitions or circular designs of balcony and staircase balustrades. Combining classic architectural details with modern production technology, this piece ensures that balustrade systems form a seamless and fluid line. Working in integration with baluster and handrail systems, it can be safely preferred for both indoor circular stairs and outdoor terrace railings. The product measures 38.5 cm in width, 133.6 cm in length, and 5 cm in thickness. The high-density rigid polyurethane raw material (150-220 kg/m³) used in its production gives the material a physical resistance comparable to wood while offering an extremely lightweight structure. This lightweight design prevents additional loads on structures during installation, preserving the static safety of buildings. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%, completely preventing deformations such as swelling, cracking, rotting, or insect infestation in outdoor environments. With a temperature resistance ranging from -100 °C / +80 °C, it maintains its dimensional stability during seasonal temperature fluctuations.

Looking at its visual design, the product features classic profile lines with concave and convex steps. Its smooth and clean lines offer a seamless miter joint in circular turns. The factory-applied primer smooths the surface, making it ready for the final coat of paint. It should be noted that the unpainted rigid foam material may turn yellow when exposed to sunlight outdoors; therefore, UV-resistant paint must be preferred for exterior applications. Offering much sharper and flawless details compared to traditional casting or carving techniques, this piece achieves a flawless appearance once painted.

During the installation process, it is critical that the surface is dry and clean. The profile should be adhered to the application area using Polure Polfix adhesive and then mechanically secured with screws. Once the screw holes and joints are sealed with flexible exterior filler and smoothed with 180-220 grit sandpaper, the painting process can begin. Although the factory-applied primer prepares the surface for paint, an additional primer application is optional according to the warranty conditions of paint manufacturers, and the choice belongs to the customer.
