Rigid closed-cell polyurethane is engineered for dimensional stability in both interior and exterior architectural applications. Surface Inspection and Substrate Preparation
Proper surface preparation prevents bonding failures and structural sagging over time. The mounting substrate—whether concrete, brick, plasterboard, or exterior insulation systems—must be thoroughly cleaned of dust, oil, loose mortar, and moisture before mounting Polure polyurethane architectural profiles.

- Verify wall flatness to prevent uneven tension on the polyurethane profiles.
- Mark layout lines using a laser level to establish precise alignment before applying adhesives.
Adhesive Selection and Mechanical Fastening Rules
Selecting the correct chemical adhesive is critical for securing rigid polyurethane profiles. Only heavy-duty polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesives should be used. Standard silicone sealants are strictly prohibited because they lack the shear strength needed for long-term adhesion to building substrates.
Chemical bonding alone is insufficient for safety. Mechanical fixing with corrosion-resistant screws is mandatory for all ceiling beam and exterior trim installations. Anchoring screws through the profile directly into the structural wall or ceiling framing prevents sagging and counters wind load pressures on exterior façades.
Cutting Precision and Miter Joint Assembly
Accurate joinery maintains seamless visual transitions along continuous runs and corner connections. Polyurethane profiles should be cut using a fine-toothed hand saw or a compound miter saw equipped with a carbide-tipped blade.
Corner intersections require precise 45-degree miter cuts. Apply a continuous bead of polyurethane adhesive directly to the cut miter faces before joining them together. This ensures a moisture-tight joint seal and prevents separation caused by thermal movement of the underlying structure.
Joint Filling, Sanding, and Surface Finishing
After mechanical fixing and adhesive curing, fill all countersunk screw heads and miter joint seams using a high-grade polyurethane joint filler or exterior acrylic putty. Allow the filler to cure completely according to manufacturer instructions.
Sand all filled areas smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper to create an even surface transition between the profile and the joint filling material. Clean away all sanding dust prior to applying finish coatings.
Priming and Paint Coating Guidelines
Polyurethane architectural elements leave the factory with a neutral primer layer applied during production. Applying an additional field coat of primer is optional, depending on the specific topcoat chemistry chosen for the project.
For interior setups, standard water-based acrylic topcoats are acceptable. For exterior applications, applying two coats of high-grade, UV-resistant paint is mandatory. UV protection prevents surface degradation, chalking, and color fading caused by direct exposure to solar radiation over extended periods.
