Designed to seamlessly connect corners in wall and ceiling paneling, the P85008F decorative corner molding offers an elegant touch to any space. Providing a modern alternative to traditional boiserie applications, this piece ensures a smooth and dynamic transition at the intersection of moldings, enhancing the room's sense of depth. Suitable for both interior and exterior use, it elevates standard wall frames into architectural statements.
Measuring 305x305 mm in width and height with a thickness of 26 mm, this corner element is manufactured from high-density (150-220 kg/m³) rigid polyurethane. It offers a strength and texture comparable to real wood, yet is exceptionally lightweight compared to plaster and carries no risk of cracking. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%, ensuring long-lasting durability without swelling or rotting in humid interiors like bathrooms and kitchens, or under harsh exterior conditions. It maintains its structural integrity within a temperature range of -20 °C / +70 °C.
The classic fan motif and surrounding acanthus leaf scrolls featured in the design are crafted with high-definition clarity thanks to advanced molding technology. Designed with symmetrical curves, this relief surface perfectly reflects classical and neo-classical decor styles. The product comes factory-primed, facilitating excellent paint adhesion. However, as paint manufacturers often recommend their own primers, applying an additional coat of primer is entirely at the user's discretion.
This patterned molding corner is highly preferred for wall paneling (boiserie) projects in living rooms, hallways, and bedrooms, as well as for ceiling crown molding transitions or framing mirrors and artwork. It can also be used on exteriors as a decorative accent on the upper corners of windows. For outdoor applications, it must be painted with a UV-resistant exterior paint to prevent yellowing or damage from sunlight.
Installation is highly practical. After making a 45-degree miter cut on a clean surface, apply Polure Polfix polyurethane adhesive. Silicone adhesives must not be used; instead, secure the piece mechanically with thin screws to ensure strong adhesion. Once the screw heads and joints are filled and sanded, the surface is ready for painting. Unlike plaster, which crumbles, or wood, which is susceptible to pests, this product offers effortless long-term maintenance.
- This molding corner is an exceptionally versatile decorative element suitable for both interior and exterior applications
- Indoors, it serves as an elegant junction point at the four corners of large wall frame panels (boiserie), particularly in living rooms
- It provides a stylish transition for wall coverings behind headboards in bedrooms, and at the corners of moldings bordering wallpaper in hallways and entryways
- Additionally, it can be used on ceilings to add dynamism to crown molding and ceiling trim transitions
- It is ideal for creating luxurious frames around large mirrors or artwork in prestigious areas like dining rooms or hotel lobbies
- On exteriors, it adds a classic architectural identity to buildings when used as decorative accents on the upper corners of window and door frames, matching floor moldings
- When used outdoors, painting it with UV-protective paint is essential for long-term durability
- The application surface must be dry, clean, and free of dust
- For installation, a 45-degree miter cut should be applied where the corner meets the straight moldings
- Only Polure Polfix polyurethane adhesive must be used for bonding; silicone-based adhesives are strictly not recommended
- After applying the adhesive, mechanical fastening with thin screws is required to ensure the product adheres fully and does not slip
- Screw holes and joints should be filled with acrylic or polyurethane filler
- Once the filler dries, smooth the surface using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- After optionally applying an additional coat of primer, complete the process by applying at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint
- Thanks to its rigid polyurethane structure, it is highly resistant to impacts and wear
- Daily cleaning can be easily done using a slightly damp or soft dry cloth
- Abrasive chemicals, acidic cleaners, or steel wool that could damage the surface must not be used during cleaning
- Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details
- If you wish to change its color over time, you can easily repaint it in any color after lightly sanding the surface
Can the P85008F molding corner be used on exteriors?
Yes, thanks to its dimensional stability tested between -20 °C and +70 °C and a water absorption rate below 1%, this product can be safely used on exteriors. However, to prevent yellowing or damage from solar UV rays, it must be painted with a UV-resistant exterior paint after installation.
Which adhesive should I use for installation, and is mechanical fastening required?
Only Polure Polfix polyurethane adhesive should be used during installation; silicone adhesives must be avoided as they do not provide sufficient strength. Additionally, mechanical fastening with thin screws is mandatory to securely support the product's weight and prevent slippage.
Is it necessary to apply an additional primer before painting the product?
The product comes factory-primed with a protective coating that prepares the surface for painting. However, paint manufacturers do not guarantee paint jobs done without their own primers. Therefore, applying an additional primer is entirely optional, and the final decision and paint warranty responsibility rest with the customer.
What are the advantages of polyurethane molding corners compared to plaster alternatives?
Polyurethane is exceptionally lightweight compared to plaster, meaning it won't crack or crumble during transport and installation. It is also highly resistant to moisture, water, and rot. It offers high impact resistance, and its patterned details are much sharper and more symmetrical.
Which decoration projects are the dimensions of this product suitable for?
With dimensions of 305x305 mm and a thickness of 26 mm, this corner element is ideal for medium to large-scale wall paneling (boiserie) projects. When paired with slim wall moldings, it creates a prominent and rich visual focal point, highlighting classic architectural details.
