The P5850B50 decorative half column stands out with its smooth surface design, seamlessly blending modern and classical architectural details. Featuring a flat, sleek shaft, it is the ideal wall cladding element for projects that embrace minimalist elegance. Its semi-circular form allows for effortless installation on flat wall surfaces, creating a sense of depth and offering practical solutions for column wrapping applications.
Crafted from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), this product offers the hardness of wood and exceptional impact resistance, while remaining remarkably lightweight compared to plaster alternatives. Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details. It maintains its dimensional stability, which has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C.
The smooth, vertically curved contours create soft transitions through subtle plays of light. It comes factory-primed, providing an ideal base for your final coat of paint. The semi-circular profile can be easily paired with various column capitals and bases to create a cohesive, complete column design.
This versatile piece is perfect for interior living room walls, hallway transitions, exterior building entrances, portico designs, and porch columns. Its moisture resistance ensures long-lasting durability without deformation, even in high-humidity areas like bathrooms, spas, or poolside zones.
During installation, the column is secured to the surface using Polure Polfix adhesive and mechanically reinforced with screws. Unlike heavy plaster or marble columns, it requires no intensive labor or high costs. It can be easily cut, sanded, and filled, reducing installation time to a minimum.
- This half-column model offers versatile aesthetic solutions for both interior decoration and exterior facade projects
- Indoors, it is ideal for creating symmetrical wall divisions in living rooms, highlighting fireplace surrounds, adding character to wide hallways, and designing decorative, non-load-bearing pillars in hotel lobbies
- Outdoors, it is preferred as a cladding material next to entrance doors, under archways, on villa facades, and around porch columns
- The half-column profile delivers outstanding results on any flat wall surface where you want to add depth without sacrificing space
- After aligning the product on a clean, dry surface, apply Polure Polfix adhesive to the back for mounting
- For a secure and permanent bond, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory
- Fill screw holes and joints with exterior-grade filler, then sand smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- While the product comes factory-primed, applying an additional primer recommended by your paint manufacturer is optional before applying at least two coats of paint
- For outdoor applications, using UV-resistant paint is required
- Thanks to its smooth surface, maintenance is exceptionally easy
- Simply use a damp cloth for dusting and cleaning
- Avoid abrasive chemicals and stiff brushes that could damage the surface
- Products installed on exterior facades can be washed with high-pressure water
- To extend the lifespan of the paint outdoors, we recommend inspecting the painted surface once a year
Can this product withstand outdoor weather conditions?
Yes, thanks to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%. It offers resistance to rain, frost, and moisture. However, to protect it from sunlight outdoors, it must be painted with UV-resistant paint.
Can silicone adhesive be used for installation?
No, silicone-based adhesives should not be used during installation. For a strong and durable bond, only Polure Polfix polyurethane adhesive should be used, reinforced with mechanical screwing.
What are the advantages compared to plaster half columns?
It is extremely lightweight compared to plaster, making transport and installation much easier. There is a low risk of cracking or breaking. Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details.
Can the product be used directly without painting?
The product comes with a protective factory primer, but painting is recommended for the final look and protection. Especially outdoors, unpainted polyurethane can yellow over time, making UV-resistant paint application essential.
Is it necessary to apply an additional primer?
The factory primer makes the surface ready for paint. However, since paint manufacturers do not guarantee applications done without their own primers, applying an additional primer is optional and left to the customer's preference.
