Reflecting the aesthetic principles of modern architecture and adding minimalist elegance to spaces, Polure's Flat Border collection holds a special place among its decoration solutions. These profiles, distinguished by their simple geometric lines, are preferred in interior and exterior designs to elegantly divide surfaces horizontally or vertically, create visual wall panels, or skillfully conceal transition points between different cladding materials. Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane raw material, Flat Borders offer both aesthetic integrity and meet long-lasting, functional needs at the highest level in projects. Challenging the disadvantages of traditional plaster or wood materials such as moisture susceptibility and fragility, these advanced polymer products provide a stable and reliable infrastructure for your projects. In contemporary architectural trends, products free from complex embellishments, which lend character to spaces solely through the profile's unique depth and interplay of shadows, are becoming a favorite among interior designers and homeowners.
The Impactful Role of Straight Lines in Architectural Design
Today's decorative approach, leaning towards simplicity and functionality, has increased the use of plain surfaces in interior architectural projects. Flat Borders, with their designs devoid of any embossing, carved details, or classical motifs, offer architects extensive design freedom. Thanks to their smooth textures, they reflect ambient light in its purest form, defining the boundaries of a space and creating a perceptual depth. They are ideal tools for segmenting walls according to golden ratio principles, adding dynamism to large surfaces between the ceiling and floor, or creating elegant transitions that integrate with existing skirting boards. Especially in spaces embracing Scandinavian, industrial, or contemporary modern design languages, they add a structural texture layer without compromising simplicity. A straight-lined border applied at the correct height can make a room's ceiling appear higher or visually widen a narrow corridor, completely transforming the perception of space.
Superior Production Technology and Material Quality
Polure Flat Border models are produced through the integration of CNC-supported processing and precise precast molding techniques. This advanced production infrastructure ensures that each border profile is shaped with millimeter precision and manufactured flawlessly to standard dimensions. The average density of the products ranges from 150-250 kg/m³, which is approximately 90% lighter compared to marble or natural stone counterparts. This low weight allows for safe application, especially in multi-story hotel, hospital, or luxury residential projects, without imposing additional load on the building's structural integrity. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, it exhibits complete resistance to water, moisture, and ambient humidity changes. Thus, common problems in wood such as swelling, cracking, or warping; and moisture-induced flaking and crumbling issues in plaster are completely eliminated, maintaining their original form for many years.
Wide Profile Options for Architectural Projects
Polure's Flat Border collection offers a rich range of cross-sections suitable for various space volumes and diverse architectural needs. All models are produced in a standard length of 2400 mm (2.4 meters), considering ease of installation and shipping standards. Cross-section widths and profile thicknesses vary according to the model's specifications. For instance, if a strong visual line is desired for large living rooms, high-ceilinged lobby areas, or exterior facade applications, the P2002 model (37x2400x150 mm) with a width of 150 mm and a thickness of 37 mm is an ideal solution. In medium-scale residential projects, if a balanced frame or wall panel is being designed for standard ceiling heights, models like P2001 (27x2400x123 mm) and P85024M (40x2400x100 mm) provide excellent proportion. For narrow spaces or smaller panels where finer and more elegant lines are prioritized, models with different cross-section thicknesses are available.
Usage Areas
Flat border profiles find their place in all types of architectural projects where modern and minimalist aesthetics are prioritized. They are indispensable, especially in interiors, for creating large framed panels (boiserie) on living room and bedroom walls. When applied as a horizontal band at 90-110 cm height from the floor in dining rooms and corridors, they divide the space into two distinct design zones and simultaneously act as a stylish buffer protecting walls against furniture impacts. They can be used as a simple transition detail at ceiling-wall intersections or as an aesthetic complement above existing skirting boards. Their application as continuous horizontal lines in narrow and long hallways adds a visual depth and sense of spaciousness to the area. In commercial projects, they add a sophisticated touch to walls in luxury hotel rooms, restaurants, shop windows, and office spaces, while on exterior facades, they are used around windows as architraves or as floor cornices, giving the building a modern identity.
Installation
Installation of Polure Flat Borders is much faster and more practical compared to traditional plaster or wood profiles, thanks to their lightweight structure and easy workability. Before starting the application, it is crucial for the wall or facade surface to be completely smooth, dry, and free of dust and grease for optimal adhesion quality. Cutting is performed precisely according to measurements determined by architectural surveys, using a fine-toothed hand saw or a professional electric miter saw. Especially for corner joints, achieving 45-degree cuts with millimeter accuracy is a critical step for flawless connections. Polifix, a special polyurethane-based mounting adhesive providing maximum adhesion, is evenly applied to the rear bonding surface of the cut profiles. After the product is leveled and placed on the wall, temporary support may be provided to keep it stable during the adhesive's drying time. Any minimal gaps that may occur at corners and joints are filled with Polifix filler to achieve a completely smooth surface. These simple steps facilitate installation for both professional teams and experienced homeowners.
Care Information
Maintenance and cleaning of our flat-profile products are exceptionally easy, thanks to their smooth, non-recessed surface designs. Since there are no carved or embossed details that could lead to dust accumulation, routine cleaning can be completed in seconds using only a lightly damp, soft microfiber cloth. A small amount of pH-neutral general surface cleaner can be added to the cleaning water. Wire sponges, abrasive powdered chemicals, and high acid/base content solvents that could scratch the paint layer and the material's texture should be absolutely avoided. Thanks to the material's natural resistance to moisture and water, it can be used for many years without deformation even in humid areas like bathrooms and kitchens, requiring no special protection or maintenance.
