Polyurethane plain dado rail 2PBOR60 is a rigid decorative moulding featuring stepped contours that provide aesthetic separation along wall and ceiling transitions. It is designed to define lines, create smooth transitions between wall panels, and add depth to surfaces in both interior and exterior architectural projects. With a height of 60 mm and a depth of 25 mm, it brings balanced proportions to any space.
Manufactured from high-density (150-220 kg/m³) molded polyurethane, this profile offers superior physical durability compared to traditional plaster or wood alternatives. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, it has low water absorption (below 1%), making it highly resistant to humidity, moisture, and pests. With dimensional stability tested between -20 °C and +70 °C, the product retains its dimensional stability against impacts and warping for years.
The smooth concave and convex steps on the front surface generate dynamic light-and-shadow effects across the room. Delivered with a factory-applied primer, the surface forms a ready base for paint applications. It can be easily painted with all quality water-based or synthetic-based paints; UV-resistant paints are recommended for outdoor projects.
This decorative border profile suits a wide range of applications, from residential to commercial spaces. It can be used as a wall paneling moulding in bedrooms, living rooms, and hallways, or as a framing profile for hotel lobbies, restaurants, offices, and exterior string course details. Its standard length of 2400 mm minimizes joint connections during installation.
Installation is simple using polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive and mechanical fixing screws. Lighter than plaster and resistant to decay unlike wood, it places no additional weight on building structures. Durable, fillable, and repaintable, it provides a cost-effective, high-quality decorative solution for your projects.
- The polyurethane plain dado rail profile is used as a horizontal transition element in interior wainscoting and wall panel frames across living rooms, dining areas, hallways, corridors, and bedrooms
- It is ideal for space division and wall decoration in hotel receptions, restaurants, retail stores, and offices
- With a water absorption rate below 1%, it offers excellent moisture resistance, making it suitable for bathrooms and kitchens
- In exterior architecture, it serves as a string course, window frame accent, or facade paneling trim when finished with UV-resistant paint
- Ensure the application surface is clean, dry, and free of dust
- Cut the profile to required lengths using a 45-degree miter box or saw
- Apply polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive to the back of the profile and place it against the wall
- Secure mechanically with screws or finishing nails to prevent movement while the adhesive cures
- Fill joint seams and screw holes with a polyurethane-compatible filler, then sand smooth with 180–220 grit sandpaper once dry
- Depending on paint manufacturer guidelines, an optional primer coat may be applied before finishing with two coats of paint
- Maintenance is straightforward
- Wipe with a damp microfiber cloth to remove dust
- Avoid pressure washers, abrasive pads, or harsh chemical solvents that could damage the surface
- If a color refresh or update is desired over time, the surface can be lightly sanded and repainted
Can polyurethane dado rails be used on exterior facades?
Yes, polyurethane features a closed-cell structure that is highly resistant to water and moisture. For exterior applications, joints should be sealed with exterior-grade filler and the surface painted with UV-resistant exterior paint.
Can silicone adhesive be used during installation?
No, silicone adhesives do not provide long-term adhesion for polyurethane. Installation requires polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive supported by mechanical fasteners such as screws or nails.
Does the product come painted, and is an additional primer required?
The product is supplied with a factory-applied white primer that prepares the surface for painting. Applying an additional primer coat depends on your chosen paint manufacturer's specifications and user preference.
What advantages does it offer compared to plaster mouldings?
Made from high-density (150-220 kg/m³) rigid polyurethane, it will not crumble or break on impact like plaster and is significantly lighter. With a water absorption rate under 1%, it will not deform, warp, or crack when exposed to moisture.
What are the profile dimensions, and is it easy to cut?
The profile measures 60 mm in height, 25 mm in depth, and 2400 mm in length. It can be easily cut at desired angles using a standard hand saw or miter saw.
