Ceilings are the largest, most uninterrupted surfaces that define the character of an interior space. For designers seeking to bring the grand heritage of classical architecture into modern structures, our Ceiling Medallion and Dome collection opens the door to depth and acoustic balance. Unlike traditional, heavy building materials, these products are manufactured using rigid PU formulas with a density of 150-200 kg/m³, creating a three-dimensional volume on ceiling surfaces without compromising the building's structural load. This high-density material technology ensures that even the finest details are sharply and clearly reflected on the surface.
Architectural Forms and Variety of Dimensions
Large designs, such as the 108 cm diameter P9101 model developed specifically for spacious foyers, hotel lobbies, and high-ceilinged halls, establish the main focal point of a space. For residential projects with standard ceiling heights, compact options like the 60 cm P7310 come into play to optimize the perception of depth. For projects aiming to break design conventions, the oval-shaped P7307 model, measuring 612x1215 mm, offers an extraordinary ceiling geometry for corridors and rectangular rooms. The P7139 and P7204 models, with depths ranging from 103 mm to 179 mm, elevate the structural limits of the ceiling to an artistic dimension. These polyurethane ceiling elements provide not only aesthetics but also a functional infrastructure for concealed lighting coves and chandelier integration.
Technical Resistance and Structural Stability
Engineered by Polure, these rigid foam elements offer complete protection against moisture and water, with a negligible water absorption rate of under 1%. Consequently, they can be safely specified for high-humidity areas such as bathrooms, indoor pools, and spas, where traditional plaster moldings tend to crumble or crack over time. The dimensionally stable structure maintains its form across a wide temperature range from -20°C to +80°C, suffering no structural deformations like shrinkage, expansion, or warping. Polure's polyurethane Medallion and Dome collection minimizes installation labor time and costs thanks to its lightweight nature.
- With a density of 150-200 kg/m³, it offers a hardness close to wood while remaining extremely lightweight.
- Its closed-cell structure keeps water absorption below 1%, preventing rot and mold growth.
- It features a flame-retardant, self-extinguishing safety standard.
- The factory-primed surface is perfectly compatible with both water-based and synthetic paints.
- It provides high impact resistance compared to plaster casts, eliminating the risk of breakage or crumbling.
Usage Areas
Ceiling medallion and dome designs find their place at the focal points of prestigious architectural projects. They are used in integration with lighting fixtures on the ceilings of hotel entrances, grand reception areas, ballrooms, and luxury restaurants. In residential projects, they are preferred to emphasize classical style, particularly in double-height gallery spaces, spacious dining rooms, and living areas. Thanks to their moisture-resistant closed-cell structure, they offer safe application in indoor pools, Turkish bath waiting areas, and spa centers where traditional materials cannot be used. Additionally, when coated with UV-resistant paint, they can be utilized on exterior portals and under eaves as an aesthetic detail in historical restoration projects or neoclassical facade designs. These polyurethane medallions are also ideal for creating a rhythmic ceiling sequence in wide corridors.
Installation
The ceiling surface to be applied must be completely dry, dust-free, and degreased. The installation steps are as follows: First, the position of the dome on the ceiling is precisely marked. For edge joints, 45-degree miter cuts are made. Polure Polfix adhesive with high initial tack must be applied to the back of the product; silicone-based adhesives should strictly be avoided at this stage. Once the product is positioned on the ceiling, mechanical fastening with screws is MANDATORY to ensure safety. Screw heads and joints are filled with a high-quality joint filler. After drying, the surface is sanded smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper. Finally, one coat of primer over the factory-applied primer, followed by two coats of water-based or synthetic paint, completes the installation.
Care Information
Manufactured from rigid PU foam, these ceiling elements feature a long-lasting structure that requires virtually no maintenance. Thanks to their anti-static surface properties, dust accumulation is extremely low. For routine cleaning, a soft, dry duster or microfiber cloth is sufficient. For tougher stains that may occur on the surface, a slightly damp cloth and soapy water free of abrasive chemicals can be preferred. Since the material is completely waterproof, it will not swell, blister, or mold due to moisture. When refreshing the ceiling paint years later, lightly sanding and repainting the products ensures they retain their day-one vibrancy.
