Asymmetric Anthracite Polyurethane Wall Panel and Modern Lounge Area

2022

This interior design showcases a balanced fusion of industrial coolness and modern comfort. The main focal point, the accent wall, features floor-to-ceiling vertical lines that create an optical illusion, making the ceiling appear higher than it is. Sunlight filtering from the right casts delicate shadows across the surfaces, highlighting the matte texture of the anthracite finish, while the high contrast with the clean white sofa adds a sense of spaciousness. Dominated by minimalist lines, the geometric movement breaks the stillness to create a dynamic atmosphere.

Crafted from high-density polyurethane, the P851350 vertical slat profiles are arranged in a rhythmic sequence on the wall. The flat wall molding (+flatwallmolding+) elements used in this custom design are not just lined up side-by-side; they are cut at varying lengths and angled ends to create a striking three-dimensional relief effect. The impact-resistant structure and smooth surface quality of these products ensure a flawless finish, even with dark paint applications. The asymmetric placement of the slats establishes a personalized design language that stands out from standard panel installations.

The technique applied in this project goes beyond standard precast installation, embodying an 'on-site composition' approach. After being cut with CNC precision and mounted to the wall, the polyurethane profiles were finished with a water-based matte interior paint. Thanks to the lightweight nature of the material, the load on large wall surfaces is minimized, and the installation process is shortened using fast-curing adhesives. Since polyurethane is completely moisture-resistant, this elegant wall design retains its shape without cracking or warping over time, promising long-lasting durability.

To adapt a similar design to your own living space, you can choose deep tones like navy blue or dark emerald green instead of anthracite to create a more dramatic ambiance. If your space is small, painting the same wall molding (+wallmolding+) layout in light gray or cream tones will add rich texture without compromising the perception of depth. For furniture, choosing a light-colored sofa in linen or soft-textured fabrics, as seen in the image, will soften the sharp geometric lines and provide a perfectly balanced aesthetic.

The dominant use of vertical lines on the wall establishes a perfect cruciform balance with the horizontal plane of the sofa. The light hitting at a 45-degree angle emphasizes the depth variations (3D effect) between the slats, turning a static wall into a living sculpture. Thanks to its light-absorbing quality, the anthracite tone visually pushes the white sofa forward, sharpening the focal point. The random angles at the ends of the slats soften rigid architectural rules, bringing an artistic freedom to the space.
