The Power of Indirect Light and Aesthetic Integration in Architecture
In modern architectural projects, light is not merely an illumination tool; it is a fundamental design element that defines spatial volume, texture, and prestige. Offering a homogeneous distribution at wall-to-ceiling junctions, indirect lighting coving eliminates all the static and aesthetic drawbacks of traditional plaster applications, thanks to its rigid PU formulation. Developed by the Polure R&D department, these high-durability polyurethane profiles with a density of 150-200 kg/m³ offer a wood-like hardness while minimizing ceiling loads due to their lightweight structure. This special closed-cell structure completely eliminates the risk of sagging, warping, or cracking in the long run, delivering permanent solutions for everything from luxury residences to five-star hotel lobbies.
Linear Light Engineering and Detail Solutions
Heat emitted by light sources can cause low-quality polymer materials to lose their shape or turn yellow over time. Polure's wide temperature resistance ranging from -20°C to +80°C ensures that the profile geometry remains as pristine as day one, even in continuously operating lighting systems. Models with various width and curve options, such as P81374 and P81376, allow light to reflect softly onto the ceiling surface without refraction. Designed for large-scale commercial spaces, the P81378 (200x97 mm) cross-section creates a sense of depth in high ceilings, while compact series like P81321G (49x99 mm) designed for minimalist spaces make corridors feel more spacious through subtle shadow plays.
High-Strength Polymer Technology as a Plaster Alternative
The fragile nature of traditional plaster cornices leads to high waste rates and lost time on construction sites. In contrast, Polure rigid PU indirect lighting elements offer high impact resistance and do not break during transport or installation. Thanks to the factory-applied primer coat, the surface smoothness is exceptional, providing superior adhesion with water-based or synthetic paints. This ensures perfect integration with other interior wall and ceiling colors. Furthermore, since the material's water absorption rate is below 1%, it will not flake or mold in humid or damp environments.
Time and Labor Savings in Projects
Time management on large-scale construction sites directly impacts project profitability. The quick-to-install structure of Polure systems significantly reduces installation time compared to traditional plasterwork. These profiles, which can be easily cut, sanded, and seamlessly joined with joint filler, leave a clean workspace requiring no post-installation touch-ups. The primary reason architects and contractors specify Polure products is their millimetric linear accuracy and alignment with zero-defect construction standards.
Usage Areas
Indirect lighting and fixture profiles are widely used in both modern residential projects and prestigious commercial spaces. They are preferred for ceiling coffers in living rooms, vertical light lines behind headboards in bedrooms, and linear directional lighting in hallways. Since their water absorption rate is under 1%, they can be safely installed on bathroom ceilings and in spa or wellness centers without being affected by moisture. In hotel lobbies, restaurants, luxury offices, and atrium voids, large-profile models like P81378 and P81991 are integrated to emphasize ceiling height and create a prestigious atmosphere.
Installation
To achieve a flawless indirect lighting line, installation guidelines must be strictly followed. Application surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dust. Miter cuts should be made at a 45-degree angle at corner joints. Absolutely do NOT use SILICONE for bonding; high-strength PU adhesives such as Polure Polfix must be preferred. After gluing, it is MANDATORY to secure the profiles mechanically using screws. Screw heads and joints should be filled with a high-quality joint filler and sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper after drying. A primer should be applied before the final coat, followed by at least two coats of paint.
Care Information
Maintenance of Polure lighting profiles is highly practical. Thanks to their closed-cell structure, they do not trap dirt or moisture. A slightly damp microfiber cloth is sufficient for dusting. Abrasive chemicals or solvent-based thinners must never be used during cleaning. Removing dust from LED channels once a year with a soft brush or compressed air will keep light efficiency at its maximum level.
