An Innovative Take on Wood Texture in Architectural Design
Blending the warmth of traditional architecture with the durability of modern technology, our Faux Wood Panel collection offers distinctive decorative solutions for both interior and exterior projects. Developed by Polure, this product line perfectly replicates the natural grain and knot details of real timber. By eliminating the heavy load, high costs, and deformation risks associated with natural lumber, these systems provide a highly practical alternative for architects and contractors. Achieving rustic and classic designs without adding structural load to building statics is now remarkably simple, especially for large-scale hotel, restaurant, and residential projects.
Technical Specifications and Material Structure
The panels in our collection feature a high-density (150-200 kg/m³) rigid polymer structure. This density level provides a surface hardness comparable to real wood while keeping the product exceptionally lightweight. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, the material has a water absorption rate of less than 1%, preventing swelling, rotting, or dimensional warping even in high-humidity environments. With a temperature resistance ranging from -20°C to +80°C, these products maintain their shape perfectly under extreme hot or cold weather conditions. Additionally, they serve as a safe building material with self-extinguishing properties, ceasing to burn once the flame source is removed.
Model Alternatives and Dimensional Variety
Engineered to meet diverse design requirements, our three core models bring outstanding flexibility to your projects:
- P1923 Wood Panel: With a thickness of 30 mm, a length of 3000 mm, and a width of 230 mm, it delivers a seamless, balanced look on expansive wall surfaces.
- P1927 Wood Panel: Measuring 26x3000x270 mm, this model features finer lines and dense textures, making it ideal for elegant wall cladding.
- P1940 Wood Panel: With a thickness of 35 mm, a length of 3000 mm, and a width of 420 mm, this model is designed for spacious interiors seeking a bold, majestic rustic wall panel design.
All three models are shipped pre-primed with a special factory-applied white primer. This primer ensures optimal adhesion for the final topcoat. This product line stands out as an eco-friendly alternative that supports sustainable forest management.
Sustainability and Industry Advantages
By reducing the demand for natural timber, these faux wood cladding systems offer an eco-friendly approach that prevents deforestation. Unlike real lumber, these panels do not suffer from knot cracking, resin bleeding, or pest infestations, minimizing long-term maintenance costs. Their non-porous structure contributes to thermal and acoustic insulation, creating an extra protective barrier on the walls where they are applied. Offering a long-lasting investment, they carry no risk of breakage compared to plaster-based panels and exhibit far superior impact resistance compared to EPS foam products. This collection redefines the aesthetic boundaries of polyurethane wood panel applications in modern architecture.
Usage Areas
The Faux Wood Panel product range offers exceptional versatility, ensuring aesthetic cohesion across both interior and exterior applications. Indoors, it is highly preferred for TV feature walls in living rooms, bedroom headboard backdrops, wood-look wainscoting in hallways, and ceiling cladding. Thanks to its negligible water absorption rate (under 1%), it can be safely installed in high-humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens. In commercial spaces, it creates a warm, natural atmosphere on feature walls in hotel lobbies, cafes, restaurants, and executive offices. Externally, it enhances architectural designs as decorative wall panels for villa soffits, building entrances, and window surrounds.
Installation
For a successful installation, the application surface must be completely clean, dry, and smooth. Panels should be cut to size using a miter saw at 45-degree angles as required by the project. Only polyurethane (PU) construction adhesive must be used for bonding; silicone-based adhesives are strictly not recommended. In addition to the adhesive, mechanical fastening of the panels to the wall using screws or nails is mandatory. Once installed, screw heads and joints should be filled with high-quality joint compound, allowed to dry, and sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper. While the products arrive pre-primed, paint manufacturers typically do not guarantee finishes applied without their proprietary primers; therefore, applying an additional primer coat before the final topcoat is optional and left to the customer's discretion. Polure does not guarantee or accept liability for the paints used. For exterior applications, UV-resistant paints are mandatory, and all joints must be sealed with exterior-grade joint filler.
Care Information
Maintaining these panels is virtually effortless. Accumulated dust can be easily wiped away with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive chemicals, thinners, or wire brushes during cleaning. Due to the closed-cell structure of the material, there is no risk of moisture-induced blistering or peeling. For exterior applications, we recommend refreshing the paint every 5 to 10 years, depending on local weather and sun exposure. Any minor surface damage from impacts can be easily repaired with standard filler, light sanding, and touch-up paint.
