Fireplace Shelf Support

A fireplace shelf support is a polyurethane element, usually corbel- or console-shaped, that gives the appearance of carrying the slab or shelf above the fireplace. It is used to support the top shelf section of a decorative fireplace from both sides and create a classic look. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or warp and can be painted. Because it is mould-cast, the support curves repeat identically on every piece and two opposing supports stand symmetrically. These elements are decorative; they are not designed for heavy load-bearing function. They are lighter than timber or plaster equivalents and speed up installation.
