Bringing the timeless elegance of classical architecture to modern interior and exterior designs, our Short Roman Pilaster Columns are highly aesthetic architectural elements that emphasize vertical lines. Eliminating the heavy structural load of traditional stone and marble craftsmanship, these pilasters are manufactured using advanced technology to offer lightweight durability and exceptional detail resolution. Adding depth and dimension to flat walls, these half-column designs are widely preferred for creating a classic identity in both residential and prestigious commercial spaces.
Design Details and Model Variations
Our pilaster designs rephrase classical capitals, fluted shafts, and balanced bases of ancient Roman architecture with modern proportions. In the Polure collection, models P84000C (360x360x1070 mm) and P84005C (360x360x1070 mm) feature wide profiles that create a striking focal point in grand salons, hotel lobbies, or spacious entryways. For projects seeking a more compact and elegant vertical rhythm, the P84000D and P84005D (278x278x1070 mm) alternatives are ideal. These models seamlessly integrate with wall molding and paneling systems to visually elevate the ceiling height.
Technical Material Specifications and Durability
Manufactured from high-density (150-200 kg/m³) rigid polyurethane, these products offer a surface hardness comparable to wood while avoiding any unnecessary static load on the building. Thanks to the closed-cell structure of the material, the water absorption rate is below 1%. This prevents rotting, swelling, or molding, even in highly humid environments. Maintaining its dimensional stability in temperature fluctuations ranging from -20°C to +80°C, this polymer structure will not crack or shrink. In terms of fire safety, it exhibits self-extinguishing properties once the flame source is removed.
Advantages Over Traditional Materials
- Vs. Plaster (Gypsum): Plaster decorations are extremely fragile and heavy. Our rigid polymer material offers high impact resistance and does not break during transport or installation.
- Vs. Wood: Wood can warp over time due to moisture and is susceptible to insect infestation. This modern material is completely moisture-resistant and rot-proof.
- Vs. EPS Foam: EPS foam materials lack impact resistance and cannot deliver sharp details. With a density of 150-200 kg/m³, these products flawlessly capture even the finest carved motifs.
Surface Preparation and Painting Guidelines
The products are delivered with a factory-applied primer coat designed to enhance topcoat adhesion. However, please note that paint manufacturers typically do not guarantee paint performance unless their own primers are used. Therefore, applying an additional primer before the topcoat is entirely optional and at the customer's discretion. Polure does not provide any warranty or assume liability for the performance or durability of the paints used. For exterior applications, UV-resistant paints must be used to protect the material from sun damage.
Usage Areas
Short Roman Pilaster Columns offer a wide range of applications in both interior and exterior designs. Indoors, they are highly favored for decorative purposes around fireplaces, flanking grand salon doorways, or as vertical wall dividers. They add a touch of classical elegance to hotel receptions, restaurant entrances, wedding venues, and luxury villa foyers. On exteriors, they serve as sophisticated framing elements around entrance doors, window jamb combinations, corner details integrated with floor moldings, and termination points for terrace railings. Thanks to their waterproof nature, they adapt beautifully to all weather conditions.
Installation
Installation of Short Roman Pilasters should begin on a clean, dry surface. First, check the alignment of the installation area, and if necessary, make precise 45-degree miter cuts using a fine-tooth saw. Never use silicone adhesive for bonding; instead, apply high-strength polyurethane (PU) construction adhesive. Alongside adhesive, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory for secure installation. Screw holes and joints should be filled with exterior-grade filler, and once dry, sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper. Finally, after an optional extra primer coat, complete the installation with two coats of paint.
Care Information
Maintaining these rigid polymer columns is virtually effortless. Accumulated dust can be easily wiped away with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid using thinners, acetone, or harsh chemical solvents during cleaning, as these can damage the painted surface. Since the closed-cell material does not absorb moisture, it prevents mold growth and retains its original form for at least 20 years.
