Patterned pilaster columns are decorative half-column designs integrated into vertical wall surfaces. While non-load-bearing, they add architectural depth and elegance. The Polure collection features relief motifs inspired by Baroque and Neoclassical eras. Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane foam, these products offer a superior physical alternative to traditional plaster or wood. With a density of 150-200 kg/m³, they provide the hardness of wood while remaining remarkably lightweight.
Technical Specifications and Structural Durability
Durability is a key priority in architectural projects. Produced with advanced molding technology, our patterned pilasters retain their structural integrity in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +80°C. Thanks to their closed-cell structure, water absorption is below 1%, preventing moisture-induced shrinkage, expansion, or warping. Additionally, the self-extinguishing properties of the material when the flame source is removed ensure enhanced safety.
Various Dimensions and Motif Options
We offer a wide range of products to accommodate different ceiling heights and wall widths. For instance, the patterned pilaster model (P5024), measuring 46x240x1970 mm, creates a bold vertical statement in spacious halls and building entrances. The slimmer (P1455) model [43x120x2270 mm] accentuates verticality in high-ceilinged corridors, while the (P5018) model [35x175x1765 mm] serves as an elegant casing element around doorways. All products are shipped from the factory with a special primer coat that enhances surface durability and prepares them for painting.
Details on Priming and Painting Processes
The factory-applied primer ensures excellent adhesion for the topcoat. Both water-based and synthetic paints can be applied to this surface. However, paint manufacturers typically do not guarantee results unless their own primers are used. Consequently, applying an additional primer coat post-installation is optional and left to the user's discretion. Polure does not assume liability for the performance or application results of third-party paint brands.
Usage Areas

Patterned pilaster columns offer versatile application possibilities in both interior design and exterior facade decoration. Indoors, they serve as elegant, non-load-bearing vertical accents to divide large living rooms, frame fireplaces, or flank built-in bookshelves. They are also ideal for creating focal points and defining vertical sections in wall paneling and wainscoting projects.

In exterior facades, placing them on both sides of entrance doors creates welcoming, grand portals. They can also be integrated with floor moldings to achieve a cohesive look around window casings. For outdoor applications, using UV-resistant paint is mandatory to prevent yellowing from direct sunlight. Their complete resistance to moisture and water also allows classical decorative schemes to be seamlessly implemented in wet areas like spas and bathrooms.

Installation

For a structurally sound and flawless finish, follow these step-by-step installation guidelines for patterned pilasters:

Surface Preparation: The wall surface must be completely dry, clean, and free of dust.

Cutting: The products can be easily cut to project specifications using a 45-degree miter saw.

Adhesion: Only polyurethane (PU) construction adhesive should be used during installation. Avoid silicone-based adhesives, as they do not provide sufficient bonding strength.

Mechanical Fastening: To prevent slipping during the curing process and ensure long-term stability, securing the columns with screws is highly recommended.

Surface Finishing: Fill joints and screw holes with a high-quality joint filler. Once dry, sand with 180-220 grit sandpaper for a seamless finish.

Painting: After applying an optional extra coat of primer, complete the process with at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint.

Care Information

Cleaning and maintaining rigid PU products is highly practical. Thanks to their anti-static surface, these elements do not accumulate dust and can be easily cleaned by wiping with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive chemicals and heavy solvent-based cleaners, as they can damage the surface. While indoor applications require no extra maintenance throughout the paint's lifespan, exterior installations can be refreshed with outdoor paint every 5 to 10 years depending on weather conditions. Minor scratches from physical impacts can be easily repaired with touch-up filler and localized painting.
