The factory-applied primer ensures excellent adhesion for the topcoat. Both water-based and synthetic paints can be applied to this surface. However, paint manufacturers typically do not guarantee results unless their own primers are used. Consequently, applying an additional primer coat post-installation is optional and left to the user's discretion. While indoor applications require no extra maintenance throughout the paint's lifespan, exterior installations can be refreshed with outdoor paint every 5 to 10 years depending on weather conditions. Minor scratches from physical impacts can be easily repaired with touch-up filler and localized painting.</p>
