Pilaster columns, the timeless way to add depth and elegance to walls in architectural projects, are reinterpreted with Polure’s detail-oriented production approach. This exclusive category offers a non-load-bearing, aesthetic version of the traditional column form integrated directly into the wall surface. Bringing an architectural tradition that spans from antiquity to modern living spaces, pilasters lend a prestigious touch to any environment. In particular, Polure's patterned pilaster columns serve as design statements that transform ordinary walls into works of art for interior designers and homeowners alike.
Our products are manufactured from rigid polyurethane, the highest quality raw material in the industry. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, this material offers a wood-like density of 150-200 kg/m³, providing both lightweight handling and high durability. It eliminates the weight and fragility disadvantages of traditional materials like plaster or marble while offering superior impact resistance. Polure pilaster columns instantly bestow a classical identity upon spaces by incorporating rich baroque, rococo, or neoclassical patterns, acanthus leaves, geometric motifs, or elegant fluting. For instance, the Polyurethane Patterned Pilaster Column model (P5024), which makes a bold statement on wide wall surfaces, stands out with its dimensions of 46x240x1970 mm, with every detail rendered with millimetric precision.
Limitless Flexibility for Designers
Polure pilaster columns offer designers and architects immense creative freedom in their projects. Factory-coated with a water-based primer, their surfaces easily accept any water-based or synthetic paint. This feature allows the products to be customized using special painting techniques such as gold leafing, distressing, or patination. Consequently, each pilaster column can perfectly harmonize with the overall color palette and decorative style of the space. Thanks to its high dimensional stability, it does not shrink, expand, or warp over time, making it indispensable for long-lasting and aesthetically flawless projects.
A wide range of sizes and patterns meets the needs of any space. The more slender and elongated Patterned Pilaster Column model (P1455) [43x120x2270 mm] emphasizes ceiling height to add a vertical perception to spaces, while more compact models like (P5018) [35x175x1765 mm] can be used as complementary elements around door or window casings. This variety allows interior designers to create impressive designs in both grand halls and more modest spaces. Furthermore, far from being just vertical ornaments, pilaster columns can establish a visual hierarchy within a space by forming the main framework in wall paneling projects or framing a specific piece of art.
Superiority in Durability and Performance
Polure pilaster columns stand out not only for their aesthetics but also for their superior technical specifications. Thanks to their temperature resistance ranging from -20°C to +80°C, they maintain their form perfectly. One of their most critical features is a water absorption rate of less than 1%. This negligible water absorption, achieved through their closed-cell structure, ensures that the products can be safely used anywhere from humid interiors like bathrooms to exterior facade applications. It completely eliminates the risk of decay or deformation caused by moisture and humidity. In terms of fire safety, they offer an extra layer of protection with their self-extinguishing properties when the flame source is removed. These features make Polure pilaster columns ideal for prestigious projects seeking both aesthetics and functionality.
Usage Areas
Polure pilaster columns are versatile decorative elements that transform the character of both interiors and exteriors in architectural projects. In interior design, they are ideal for creating a strong focal point on main walls in luxury residential living rooms or hotel lobbies. They can be used around fireplaces or library niches to introduce classical depth. When applied as side jambs for door and window portals, they give the space a monumental entrance feel. In large-scale villas or restaurants, they are preferred as vertical dividers in wall paneling projects, thereby establishing a visual rhythm and zoning within the space. On exteriors, they emphasize door frames at building entrances to offer visitors a grand welcome. Placed in the spaces between windows, they bring a symmetrical and classical order to the facade. They can also be used as decorative brackets or supports under balcony projections. Thanks to their high resistance to water and moisture, they allow the continuation of a classic and elegant design concept even in damp interiors like bathrooms and spas.
Installation
Installation of Polure pilaster columns can be carried out easily and securely using the correct methods and professional steps. First, it is critical that the application surface is completely free of dust, moisture, and loose particles. The products can be precisely cut to desired dimensions and 45-degree angles using a sharp miter saw. During installation, it is essential to use high-tack Polure Polfix polyurethane-based adhesives; SILICONE-based adhesives are not recommended. After applying the adhesive in strips to the back of the product, it should be fixed to the wall and pressed gently until full adhesion is achieved. For a permanent and secure installation, mechanical fastening with screws is a MANDATORY step. Screw heads and joints should be filled and smoothed with acrylic filler for interiors and exterior-grade filler for exteriors. Once the filler dries, the surface is lightly sanded with 180-220 grit sandpaper, making it ready for priming. Finally, two coats of high-quality paint (UV-resistant paint for exteriors) are applied to give the pilaster columns their desired aesthetic appearance.
Care Information
Polure pilaster columns retain their day-one aesthetics for many years with minimal maintenance requirements. For routine cleaning, a soft, slightly damp cloth and gentle, chemical-free cleaners are sufficient. The antistatic surface of polyurethane reduces dust accumulation, thereby decreasing cleaning frequency. Under normal usage conditions, the products have a lifespan exceeding 20-30 years. For exterior applications, it is recommended to use a high-quality exterior paint to increase resistance to solar UV rays and preserve color, renewing this paint every 5-10 years. Any minor dents or scratches that may occur over time can be easily filled with commercially available acrylic fillers, sanded, and repainted, making the repair process highly practical.
