A classic fireplace mantel case is a polyurethane surround structure that wraps around the fireplace hearth and forms a classical body. With side legs, a top lintel and shelf parts joined together, a coherent classical case is built around the hearth. Compared with marble and stone, polyurethane is lightweight and is applied with construction adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell and can be painted. Because it is mould-cast, the moulding and raised details repeat identically on each piece and installation is fast. The case is used decoratively, at a safe distance from the heat source.
