Wrought Iron Railings
Wrought iron railings are metal railing systems used for safety along balconies, staircases, or terraces. Polyurethane architectural mouldings do not replace the structural bars or connections of a wrought iron railing; they can instead be used as decorative coverings on the surrounding wall, column, arch, or parapet surfaces. Window and door surrounds, string courses, brackets, and column covers can be selected to create a visual transition between the metal system and the building surface. Cast polyurethane has a density of 150-220 kg/m³ and is lightweight compared with plaster, stone, concrete, or solid wood alternatives. Its closed-cell structure has a water absorption rate below 1%, helping reduce the risk of moisture-related deterioration, cracking, and blistering. Factory-primed components can be painted with water-based or synthetic paint. The dimensional stability test range is -20 °C / +70 °C. Mould production ensures consistent profile sections and fine lines across different components.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can polyurethane be used alongside wrought iron railings?
Yes. Polyurethane column covers, window surrounds, string courses, or brackets can be used as decorative coverings on the walls and parapets surrounding the railing.
Can polyurethane be used as a structural railing support?
No. Polyurethane architectural mouldings are decorative and do not carry structural loads. The railing's structural metal components and connections must be installed separately.
