The PKB40S Polyurethane Beam Strap is a 40 mm wide joint connector designed to conceal seams between ceiling beams, rafters, or decorative profiles, delivering seamless architectural continuity. Engineered specifically for rustic interior design, it hides beam joints while replicating the aesthetic of wrought iron metal clamps across wood textures. It imparts a refined, professional finish to ceiling lines in both residential and commercial projects.
Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), this durable component measures 990 mm in length, 40 mm in width, and 2 mm in thickness. Its thin, flexible profile allows it to wrap smoothly around beam surfaces. Featuring a closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate remains under 1%. Additionally, it maintains dimensional stability and is resistant to shrinking and warping within the dimensional stability test range -20 °C / +70 °C.
The surface texture features detailed accents inspired by traditional hand-forged iron and leather strap designs. Delivered with a factory-applied primer, the surface is fully prepared for painting prior to installation. It can be finished in black, antique copper, aged brass, or dark wood tones to seamlessly match your design scheme. Include the product weight and fixing loads when assessing the substrate and supporting structure.
This versatile strap is suitable for ceiling beam joints in living rooms, rafter installations in hotel and restaurant interiors, and decorative residential ceiling trims. When finished with a UV-resistant coating, it can also be safely installed in exterior applications, such as porch beams and eaves soffits.
For installation, ensure the application surface is clean and dry. Apply polyurethane (PU) construction adhesive to the back of the strap, position it over the joint, and mechanically fix it using screws. Fill screw heads and joints with suitable putty, sand smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper, and complete with an optional primer followed by two topcoats of paint.

Is the polyurethane beam strap suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, with a water absorption rate under 1%, it withstands harsh weather conditions. When coated with UV-resistant exterior paint for outdoor or porch applications, it lasts for years without yellowing or deteriorating.
Can I use silicone adhesive to install the beam strap?
No, silicone adhesives do not provide long-term adhesion on polyurethane. You must use polyurethane (PU) construction adhesive and secure the strap mechanically with screws.
What are its advantages over wood or metal brackets?
Polyurethane is far lighter than plaster or metal and is resistant to rot. With a density of 150-220 kg/m³, it is durable yet lightweight, and can easily be sanded and painted in any desired color.
Can the beam strap be used directly without painting?
The product arrives primed and ready for paint. However, unpainted polyurethane surfaces can yellow over time if exposed to sunlight. Therefore, painting it post-installation with water-based or synthetic paint in your chosen color is recommended.
What are the dimensions of the PKB40S model, and is it flexible?
The PKB40S model measures 40 mm in width, 990 mm in length, and 2 mm in thickness. Its thin, flexible 2 mm profile allows it to wrap easily around beams and rafters of various cross-sections during installation.
