Polyurethane Baluster and Balcony Railing Models
Details
The PB4014 decorative architectural element is a premium polyurethane baluster model that seamlessly blends classic architectural elegance with modern manufacturing technology. Featuring dimensions of 14 cm in width, 14 cm in depth, and 40 cm in height, this product offers perfect proportions for staircases, balcony borders, and terrace railings. Its aesthetic form transforms building facades, adding an upscale identity and architectural depth to any project.
Our product is manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-200 kg/m³). Mimicking the density and hardness of natural wood, this structure provides excellent impact resistance while remaining remarkably lightweight. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%. This technical superiority prevents the material from being affected by harsh weather conditions such as moisture, rain, and snow, completely eliminating the risks of rotting, swelling, and cracking. It perfectly retains its form in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to +80°C.
The visual design features a symmetrical body that reflects the smooth contours of traditional woodturning craftsmanship. The circular base elegantly tapers upward through a delicate neck detail, culminating in a balanced top cap. These fluid curves capture light and shadow beautifully, creating a rich visual rhythm in railing systems. It serves as a highly practical and durable alternative to fragile plaster, high-maintenance wood, or heavy concrete materials.
The PB4014 polyurethane baluster is widely preferred for exterior balconies of private villas, hotel terraces, historical restorations, and classic interior staircases. Due to its lightweight nature, it does not add static load to building cantilevers or balcony floors, providing a critical advantage for structural safety. It can be safely used both indoors and, when properly painted, on exterior facades.
Installation begins by making 45-degree miter cuts on clean surfaces. For bonding, a strong polyurethane adhesive like Polure Polfix must be used; silicone-based products should be strictly avoided. To ensure structural integrity, mechanical fastening with screws at both top and bottom connection points is mandatory. Although the factory primer prepares the surface for painting, paint manufacturers may not guarantee applications done without their own primers. Therefore, applying an additional primer is optional and left to the customer's discretion. Polure does not assume responsibility for paint performance. For exterior applications, UV-resistant paint is mandatory.
- The PB4014 polyurethane baluster offers versatile usage in both interior designs and, with proper painting, exterior projects
- Outdoors, it serves as an elegant boundary element for balcony railings of private villas, mansions, and residential developments, as well as spacious terraces and the tops of garden retaining walls
- Indoors, it is highly favored for grand staircases in the entrance halls of duplex and triplex homes, as well as around mezzanine openings
- Architects frequently incorporate it into hotel lobbies, classic restaurants, and historic cafes to provide both safety and decorative partitioning
- Installation surfaces must be dry, clean, and free of dust
- Mark the spacing intervals for the balusters
- Apply Polure Polfix polyurethane adhesive to both the top and bottom mounting surfaces of the baluster (do not use silicone adhesives)
- Following adhesive application, it is mandatory to mechanically secure the product to the floor and handrail profile using screws at both the base and top cap
- Screw heads and joints should be filled with exterior-grade putty and sanded smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper
- Depending on your paint manufacturer's warranty terms, apply an optional primer, and complete the process with two coats of UV-resistant exterior paint
- Polyurethane balusters can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth
- For outdoor installations, accumulated dust and mud can be washed away using non-abrasive detergents and low-pressure water
- Avoid using stiff brushes, steel wool, or harsh acid-based chemical cleaners during cleaning
- For exterior applications, checking the surface once a year and repainting if necessary to protect against the degrading effects of UV rays will maximize the product's lifespan
