The polyurethane ceiling medallion models in the Polure collection are prestigious decorative elements that combine classic architectural lines with modern engineering solutions. In interior design, ceilings are considered the room's fifth wall. Enhancing these surfaces aesthetically directly transforms the perception of the entire space. Developed as an alternative to the heavy weight, fragility, and laborious installation processes of traditional plasterwork, high-density rigid polymer (PU) technology has initiated a new era in ceiling decoration. With a density of 150-200 kg/m³, these designs offer a hardness close to wood while placing no extra load on ceiling structures.
Architectural Diversity and Dimensional Options
Varying according to project scale, our Medallion and Dome collection spans a wide range from minimal designs to monumental structures. For instance, compact 30 cm diameter designs (such as the P291 model) ideal for narrow hallways or small bedrooms create a subtle elegance. For large-scale living rooms, hotel lobbies, or ballrooms, magnificent models reaching up to 188 cm in diameter (such as P7119D117) are preferred. In terms of design language, traces of Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical, and modern minimalist movements can be seen. While simple and symmetrical models like P441 and P641 reflect the purity of the neoclassical style, the P7118 and P7119 series bring palace grandeur to ceilings with their layered details.
Technical Advantages and Durability
Polure Medallion and Dome products are manufactured not only for aesthetic appeal but also to meet technical requirements at the highest level. Featuring a closed-cell structure, these elements have a water absorption rate of less than 1%. Consequently, they never swell, rot, or lose their shape when exposed to moisture, steam, or direct water contact. Highly stable against temperature fluctuations, the products maintain their dimensional stability across a wide temperature range from -20°C to +80°C, without expanding, shrinking, or cracking. Additionally, this polymer structure, which has a B2-class fire retardancy rating, contributes to fire safety by self-extinguishing once the flame source is removed.
Easy Installation and Maintenance Advantages
Extremely lightweight compared to their plaster counterparts, these elements offer great convenience from logistics to the installation phase. They carry no risk of breaking or crumbling during transport. The products come with a factory-applied primer coat on their surface. This special surface coating ensures that all types of water-based or synthetic paints adhere perfectly to the product. Thanks to their sandable, fillable, and repeatedly paintable structure after installation, they quickly adapt to decorative changes. Maintaining their original form for many years without sagging or deforming, these systems minimize maintenance costs.
- Lightweight and Safety: 90% lighter than plaster, making them safe for use on suspended ceilings.
- High Detail Resolution: Advanced molding technology ensures the finest floral motifs and geometric lines are sharply rendered.
- Complete Moisture Resistance: Thanks to its closed-cell structure, it is ideal for high-humidity areas like bathrooms and indoor pool ceilings.
- Long-Lasting Structure: Highly impact-resistant, it will not yellow, crumble, or flake over time.
Usage Areas
Medallion and Dome designs are widely used in architectural projects to define the aesthetic center of ceilings. In interiors, they function as elegant lighting roses framing chandeliers in living rooms, salons, spacious hallways, and bedrooms. Moving beyond conventional designs, a sense of perspective can be enhanced on hallway ceilings with sequential applications of small medallions (such as the P291 model). Furthermore, these elements can be positioned as embossed wall decorations or art objects at the center of wall panel designs. In commercial projects, they elevate ceiling grandeur in prestige-oriented spaces like hotel lobbies, restaurant ceilings, conference halls, villas, and wedding venues. Outdoors, they serve as complementary architectural elements on building entrance portal ceilings, under eaves, and in exterior ceiling details. For exterior applications, the material must be painted with UV-resistant exterior paint to protect it from sun damage.
Installation
Installation of Polure Medallion and Dome models is completed quickly and safely when the correct techniques are followed. The process consists of these steps: First, the ceiling surface to be applied must be completely clean, dry, and free of dust or loose layers. The center point of the medallion is aligned and marked with the electrical outlet line. A hole is drilled at the center point using a drill for cable routing. If needed, a 45-degree miter cut is made at the edges. Polure Polfix PU adhesive is applied to the back of the product. Under no circumstances should silicone-based adhesives be used. Regardless of the product's weight, mechanical fastening with screws is MANDATORY for safety. Joints and screw heads are filled with a high-quality filler. Once the filler dries, the surface is smoothed using 180-220 grit sandpaper. A primer coat is applied to the factory-primed surface, followed by at least two coats of water-based or synthetic paint. For exterior applications, using UV-resistant paint against solar radiation is essential.
Care Information
Maintenance of Polure Medallion and Dome products is highly practical due to the material's durable structure. Antistatic surface properties keep dust accumulation to a minimum. For routine cleaning, using a soft, dry, or slightly damp microfiber cloth is sufficient. During cleaning, harsh chemicals containing solvents like thinners or acetone, and abrasive hard sponges that could damage the paint or polymer texture on the surface, must absolutely be avoided. Thanks to their high resistance to impact and moisture, these products have a lifespan of over 20 years. If minor damage occurs due to an impact, the surface can easily be repaired with acrylic filler, sanded, and locally repainted. This ensures your ceiling decoration always retains its first-day vibrancy.
