Combined polyurethane profiles are produced from rigid, closed-cell polyurethane with a density range of 150-220 kg/m³ (production target ~160 kg/m³), targeted at approximately 150-220 kg/m³ (production target ~160 kg/m³) during manufacturing. This closed-cell structure ensures a water absorption rate below 1%, making the profiles completely resistant to moisture, swelling, and rot.
Key physical boundaries and performance criteria include:
- Operating temperature tolerance ranging from -100 °C / +80 °C without thermal deformation.
- High structural rigidity suitable for intricate interior and exterior facade detailing.
- Strictly decorative function: these components carry no structural or load-bearing capacity.
Architectural Proportions and Scale Selection
Selecting the correct scale for combined profiles requires balancing ceiling height, wall area, and visual depth. Installing oversized profile combinations in low-ceiling spaces visually compresses the room, while undersized mouldings fail to create architectural definition in expansive areas.
- Ceiling heights up to 2.6 metres: Choose combined profile heights between 8 cm and 12 cm.
- Ceiling heights between 2.7 metres and 3.2 metres: Select profile heights between 13 cm and 20 cm.
- Ceiling heights exceeding 3.2 metres or exterior facades: Utilize combined profile profiles reaching 20 cm to 35 cm in total depth.
Surface Measurement and Material Quantity Calculation
Accurate site measurements prevent installation delays and unnecessary material waste. Measure the perimeter of each wall section along the exact mounting line, accounting for structural deviations and corner breaks.
To calculate the total required linear meters, add a mandatory 10% to 15% waste allowance to the net measurement. This additional material compensates for 45-degree miter cuts at interior and exterior corners, trim alignment, and end-of-run adjustments.
Adhesive Application and Mechanical Fixing Requirements
Surface preparation requires a dry, dust-free, and oil-free substrate before attachment. Profiles must be cut at precise 45-degree angles using a high-speed miter saw equipped with a fine-toothed blade.
The installation sequence requires specific structural attachment procedures:
- Apply high-strength polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive along the rear bonding channels and mitered joint faces. Silicone-based adhesives are strictly forbidden as they fail under structural expansion stresses.
- Install mechanical screw fixings through the profile into the wall substrate at maximum 50 cm intervals. Mechanical anchoring is mandatory to prevent creep and displacement during adhesive curing.
Joint Filling, Sanding, and Surface Coating Sequence
After adhesive curing and mechanical anchoring, sink screw heads slightly below the profile surface. Fill all screw countersunk holes and profile joints with specialized joint filler compound.
Once fully dry, sand all filled areas using 180-220 grit sandpaper to achieve a seamless, continuous profile surface. Combined profiles arrive factory-primed; however, applying an extra acrylic primer layer after sanding is optional depending on the desired topcoat finish depth. Finish with two coats of paint.
Exterior Coating Guidelines and Maintenance Controls
When installing combined polyurethane profiles on exterior facades, coating selection dictates long-term performance. Polure profiles withstand harsh ambient weather, but the outer paint layer protects the substrate against solar radiation.
An exterior-grade, 100% UV-resistant paint is mandatory for all outdoor applications. Regular maintenance involves inspecting perimeter joint sealants every few years to ensure moisture barrier integrity.
