In interior architecture, the power of simplicity and geometric order is revealed through linear movements applied to wall surfaces. To create balanced spaces free from clutter in modern design philosophy, flat decorative moulding profiles are indispensable design elements. The Moulding collection in Polure's product portfolio offers high-quality solutions that are free from the bulkiness of traditional plaster ornaments, adapting perfectly to the dynamism of contemporary living spaces. Produced with advanced technology, its rigid polymer structure with a density of 150-200 kg/m³ mimics the natural hardness and texture of wood while providing an extremely lightweight alternative that adds no extra static load to structures.
Minimalist Aesthetics in Architectural Lines
Wall moulding designs have recently found a prominent place at the intersection of neoclassical and minimalist trends. The use of plain wall trim visually balances the ceiling height and overall volume of a room by creating subtle transitions of light and shadow on flat surfaces. Designers combine different profile cross-sections to establish a rhythmic order in large spaces or to add depth to smaller rooms. For instance, the slim-profile model P85003 (12x16 mm) is highly preferred for designing elegant frames and delicate details. Conversely, wider modern border trim alternatives like P85406 (27x57 mm) and P85015 (40x40 mm) provide a strong vertical emphasis in grand hotel lobbies, prestigious office projects, or high-ceilinged residences. The P85008 (20x40 mm) model serves as a balancing transition element for both horizontal divisions and vertical framing.
Engineering Standards and Physical Stability
The Polure Moulding series is developed not only with aesthetic concerns but also with superior material engineering criteria. Thanks to its closed-cell structure, its water absorption rate is below 1%, ensuring the material maintains its dimensional stability even in contact with water. Risks commonly associated with wood, such as warping, cracking, knot defects, or pest infestation, are completely eliminated. With a temperature resistance ranging from -20°C to +80°C, these profiles retain their shape and do not expand even under harsh climatic conditions. Arriving from the production line pre-primed with a white factory finish, these flat mouldings are perfectly compatible with both water-based and synthetic paints. Additionally, the self-extinguishing property of the material is a significant advantage for projects requiring fire safety.
- P85002: Ideal for basic framing in projects of all scales with its standard geometry.
- P85010: Creates distinct shadow depths on surfaces with its 20x43 mm dimensions.
- P85406: Can be used as a complementary architrave element on exterior windows due to its wide profile.
- P85003: Represents the slimmest and simplest form of minimalist detailing.
Usage Areas
Thanks to their functional structure, our moulding profiles have a wide range of applications, extending from interior spaces to exterior facade designs. Indoors, they are preferred for creating neoclassical boiserie panels on living room walls, drawing modern border trim lines that horizontally divide hallway walls, and designing geometric layouts on ceilings. They deliver excellent results in creating accent frames behind bed headboards. To establish a prestigious atmosphere in restaurants, hotel receptions, and luxury offices, they are utilized as wall and ceiling panels. The use of flat decorative trim is also common in embellishing furniture doors, decorating door surfaces, and framing mirrors. On exteriors, the Polure polyurethane product range takes its place in projects as window trim embellishments, horizontal lines above floor cornices, and minimalist moulding details complementing column capitals at building entrances.
Installation
Moulding installation requires a systematic application protocol to achieve a durable and seamless finish. First, ensure that the substrate surface is dry, clean, and level. To guarantee a perfect transition at corner joints, the profiles should be cut at a 45-degree angle using a professional mitre saw. Silicone adhesives must never be used during the bonding stage; instead, high-strength specialty adhesives like Polure Polfix should be preferred. The adhesive should be applied in continuous beads along the back of the profile. Mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory during installation to prevent slippage and ensure the product sits perfectly against the surface. Once the adhesive cures, joints and screw holes are filled with high-quality joint filler. The cured filled surfaces are then sanded smooth with 180-220 grit sandpaper. In the final step, the installation is completed by applying two coats of water-based or synthetic paint over the factory primer. For exterior installations, joints must be filled with exterior-grade filler, and UV-resistant exterior paint must be used.
Care Information
Maintenance of Polure Moulding products is remarkably easy thanks to the material's durable and closed-cell structure. Surface dust can be wiped periodically using a damp microfiber cloth. Abrasive chemicals, solvents, or stiff brushes should not be used during cleaning. Since the water absorption rate is below 1%, it does not swell, rot, or mold even in high-humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens, eliminating the need for special protective maintenance. To refresh the color of the profiles, which retain their original shape for many years, or to change the decor, the surface can be lightly sanded and repainted.
