A Lightweight and Durable Alternative to Traditional Wood Aesthetics
Wooden ceiling systems, one of the warmest and most prestigious details of classical architecture, are often difficult to implement in modern projects due to their heavy weight and high maintenance requirements. Polure overcomes these structural challenges with its Faux Beam - Rafter - Log series, combining aesthetics and functionality to bring authentic character to any space. Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (PU), these specialized profiles perfectly replicate natural wood grain and knot textures. With a density of 150-200 kg/m³, these elements offer a surface hardness close to real wood while adding virtually zero static load to the building structure compared to solid timber. This makes them highly safe and suitable for suspended ceilings and plasterboard surfaces with limited load-bearing capacity.
Superior Cellular Structure and Dimensional Stability
Thanks to its engineered closed-cell structure, this decorative corner profile series offers complete resistance to moisture and water. With a water absorption rate of less than 1%, the material is protected against swelling, rotting, or warping, even in high-humidity areas like bathrooms, kitchens, or indoor pools. Maintaining its form perfectly across a wide temperature range from -20°C to +80°C, these elements remain unaffected by seasonal temperature fluctuations and do not crack. The factory-primed surface ensures excellent adhesion for both water-based and synthetic paints. They can be safely used in interior designs as well as exterior facade projects when coated with the appropriate protective paint.
Flexible Detail Solutions in Architectural Designs
Aesthetically concealing the joints of beams is crucial, especially in spacious ceilings and rustic decor concepts. Our P1982 wood-look corner profile (133x3000x133 mm) features generous dimensions, making it ideal for hiding installation errors and gaps at wall-to-ceiling transitions. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, its hollow design serves as a functional conduit to conceal electrical wiring, plumbing pipes, and sound system components running through ceilings. These advantages offered by the Polure collection minimize labor costs while ensuring design continuity in your projects.
- Lightweight and Safe: Being 90% lighter than real wood, it provides superior safety and ease during ceiling installations.
- Rich Texture Details: Thanks to custom casting molds, the deepest wood grains and knot details are flawlessly replicated on the surface.
- Longevity: Completely resistant to organic degradation such as insect infestations, mold, and mildew.
- Easy Workability: Can be easily cut, sanded, and puttied using standard woodworking tools.
Time management is a critical factor for designers and architects. Polure designs can be rapidly installed on-site thanks to their ease of assembly and ready-to-paint primer coat. Our rustic corner elements are the most practical way to create a prestigious and warm atmosphere in a wide range of spaces, from mountain chalets to modern loft apartments, restaurant designs to hotel lobbies.
Usage Areas
The Faux Beam - Rafter - Log series offers a wide range of applications. Indoors, it serves as a decorative corner profile at the joints of rustic beam systems on living room, hallway, and kitchen ceilings. It complements the historic ceiling character in authentic restaurants, wine cellars, mountain chalets, and boutique hotel lobbies. Thanks to its low water absorption (<1%), it is highly suitable for wet areas like indoor pool ceilings and bathrooms. Outdoors, when coated with UV-resistant paint, it provides safe and decorative solutions for porch ceilings, eaves, and entrance portals against harsh weather conditions.
Installation
The installation process requires meticulous steps to achieve professional results. First, ensure the application surface is dry, clean, and free of dust. Profiles should be precisely cut at a 45-degree angle using miter saws. Never use silicone adhesives for bonding; instead, high-strength specialized PU adhesives such as Polure Polfix must be preferred. After applying the adhesive, the product must be mechanically secured to the wall and ceiling using screws. Screw heads and joints should be filled with exterior-grade joint filler. Once dry, sand with 180-220 grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth surface. Finally, prime the surface and apply at least two coats of paint. For outdoor applications, the use of UV-resistant paint is mandatory.
Care Information
Maintenance of these rigid PU profiles is highly practical. A slightly damp, soft cloth is sufficient for surface cleaning. Avoid abrasive chemicals, stiff brushes, or wire pads, as they can damage the paint and delicate texture. Since the products are inorganic, they do not rot, harbor insects, or deform due to moisture. Any hairline cracks that may develop at the joints over time due to building settling can be easily repaired locally with acrylic filler and repainted.
