Fluted Column Shaft Profile
Polure fluted column shafts feature vertical parallel grooves (canelures) that draw the eye upward, accentuating height and classical architectural texture on entrance porticos and grand interior colonnades. Molded from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), these hollow shaft sections are designed strictly for cladding around structural load-bearing posts. Standard diameters span 20 to 80 cm at a standard height of 240 cm, available in full-round or half-pilaster configurations. With a closed-cell composition and water absorption below 1%, they resist rot, swelling, and frost cracking across -100 °C / +80 °C with Class B2 fire safety. Delivered pre-primed, installation uses PU assembly adhesive, countersunk screws, and UV exterior paint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Polure fluted column shafts load-bearing?
No, Polure fluted column shafts are hollow and purely decorative. Structural loads must be carried by an internal steel or concrete column. Concrete must NEVER be poured inside.
What diameters and heights are available for fluted column shafts?
Standard diameters are 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 80 cm with a standard shaft height of 240 cm, available as full round or half pilaster walls.
Are fluted column shafts suitable for outdoor facades?
Yes, with water absorption below 1% and thermal stability from -100 °C / +80 °C, they are completely weather-proof. Outdoor use requires UV exterior paint.
How are fluted shaft halves joined during installation?
Half-shaft sections are joined around the structural post using continuous PU assembly adhesive and secured with countersunk screws.
